The float just appeared on CBS (almost missed it because I was channel hopping - pun partially intended :stick_out_tongue:), which means that we'll probably see it on NBC shortly - that's been the trend with the broadcast thus far.
CBS is pathetic. I caught one of their attempts to do the parade a while back, and it seemed like someone recording a concert that snuck through the back door, and is trying very very very hard not to get caught. I half expect the police to come and escort the CBS morning show away from the parade. Pathetic.

Listen... i could go on and on about how I didn't like how they had to pair Kermit up with yet another Disney Tween, but I think it works great to get the brand out there myself... not as much as Bohemian Rhapsody, but still good. Even though I had no idea who half of the tween pop cavalcade they had in the parade was. At least Cyndi Lauper was there. Nice...

Well, whattaya expect? Tiffany's hip; Kermit's hop - put 'em together and you'll get hip hop.

If they instead went with Flip Wilson and Beauregard, it woulda been Flip-Mop.
GROAN!Someone wanna give this guy the hook?
(just kidding dw:wink:)

If it seems that way, it's because in a sense that's just what they're doing. Only NBC has the rights to broadcasting the Macy's part of the show - using the name Macy's and all the performances that take place in front of Macy's. Any other network can still broadcast footage of the parade from anywhere else on the route from a news-type standpoint, so CBS knowing that the parade is a ratings bonanza steeped in tradition, takes the "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" approach. They broadcast footage on the parade (note that they don't use Macy's in the title or refer to them) and intercut their footage of the parade marching with their own exclusive acts performing.

NBC IS the actual coverage. This is where you'll see everything. CBS is a supplement. You can catch some additional shots and footage of the parade itself but NBC will be where you see the Sesame and Muppet floats stop and do their song.

I HATE living in Michigan! They don't have the Macy's parade until the repeat at 3 in the morning! And even then they cut off the first half an hour (the Broadway performances are one of my favorite parts!)!

Okay, enough griping...

I thought it was a pretty good performance, good, but not great. It seemed a shame that popped the song up and that I couldn't hear the frog for the starlet, but an inaudible Kermit is better than no Kermit at all. Next year, hopefully, they will give Kermit a singing partner that can sing the song the way it was sung the first time. And hope the people that mix the song make Kermit's voice louder.

As what I thought.... Really, it seems like the police are going to pull them away under threat of arrest at any time. I remember when other channels broadcast other parades. Much more interesting than showing illegal bootlegged footage of the Macy's parade.

Oh, and how come I'm finding out that Kermit was at the Boston Macy's tree lighting ceremony days after it happened? I could have SO gone and seen it. I miss Grover that one year and now this...
