    Should the Muppets retire?

Well, that's a little naive. Disney is, of course, doing it for the money and only the money. If Disney didn't think the Muppets could be profitable, they wouldn't have bought them. And the moment they think the Muppets aren't profitable anymore, Disney will have no problem stopping new projects.

    Wizard of Oz performers

Were both Old Tom and Real Old Tom in Oz? I was pretty sure there was only one Tom in it, but I couldn't figure out which one it was.

Who owns the rights to what?

Yes, I do. The same probably holds true for The Christmas Toy / Secret Life of Toys. Disney would probably have wanted the special but not the series. I'm at a little bit of a loss as to why Disney didn't want/get Emmett Otter. Maybe Henson really wanted to hold onto that one.

What did Waldorf and Statler do in Oz?

    They played Kalidahs.

    Muppets Season 1 releases Aug 9, 2005

Forty buck's not that steep, especially since Amazon already has it available for under thirty. That's like $2.50 per hour of material.

    Muppets Season 1 releases Aug 9, 2005

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the music rights. When Henson paid for the rights to use the songs on the Muppet Show, they likely only payed for television/syndication rights. Oftentimes, additional royalties have to be paid for the rights to use the music on video/DVD. As for the Sesame...

    Muppets Season 1 releases Aug 9, 2005

Ernie and Bert appear in one of the Season 1 episodes as well, but there should be no problem whatsoever for Disney to put any episodes with Sesame characters on DVD.

Relaunching The Muppets: A New Plan

"Revelations" had a lot of promotion for a TV movie. "Muppets' Wizard of Oz," had more than a fair amount, but I wouldn't call it heavily promoted unless I saw non-televised marketing for it: posters on subways, busses, billboards, etc.

"The Muppets' Wizard of Oz" disappoints - Jim Hill

How manipulative of Jim Hill. This is what Variety had to say about Oz's ratings: "Of note Friday was a solid performance by ABC's "Wonderful World of Disney" original telepic "The Muppets' Wizard of Oz" (prelim 2.2/8 in 18-49, 7.6 million). It placed second from 8 to 10 in 18-49 and led its...

    Your Thoughts: Muppets' Oz CD

I haven't heard the soundtrack, but I've seen the movie and I've got a couple of comments based on that. #1) Given that Dorothy really does need a song at the beginning and that the Muppets don't come in until later, I think that Kansas is a particularly interesting way to start the movie, at...

Was Jim Henson an actual full fledged hippie?

I'm positive that they separated, but I can't say for sure that they were legally divorced.

    Muppet Show/70s Paper Question--HELP!

Look into the history of variety television in that decade, particularly Laugh-In, Carol Burnett, etc. Also, if you're going with the nostalgia route, I'd look into the history of vaudeville.

    Poor Continuity on Fraggle Rock

Most songs, not just in Muppet productions but in all film and TV, are pre-recorded and lip-synched to. Dave has always played Uncle Matt.

There Could Be Some Hope With Oz

The big problem with Snoop Dog was that he runs a company that makes hardcore pornography. Henson should've anticipated the negative publicity.
