As absolutely obnoxious as the mid-term political commercials are, this really gets me up.
We're having a governor election here in CT and on the local channels every single commercial is either election-related or car dealerships. I want to throw a brick through my television.

As I've said before, the thing that I hate the most about political ads is that the candidates will tell you all the reasons not to vote for their rivals, yet they never tell you why you should vote for them instead. Honestly, every single political ad on TV right now is, "John Doe supports Obama, shame on him, and because of that, he's lost touch with the people, and only cares about carrying out Obama's agenda... we cannot have more people like that in the government... that's why you need to vote for me, because I'm not like John Doe, and this message has been paid for by my campaign."

That's why I hate elections. I never know who to vote for, because I have no idea what any of these people's platforms are, where they stand on certain issues, or what they plan to do to improve things in this state -- they all just basically say, "Don't vote for the other person, vote for me."

At this point, I feel I'd be more inclined to vote for someone simply for handing me a sucker.

I will say this though, this election season is the worst so far. I've never received so many political ads in the mail before in my life. Seriously, at least three or four from different candidates on a daily basis: both at my home address and in my post office box. Sheesh.

There's a whole rant I can go onto about that. I like how every single Republican ad essentially says, we've wanted this president to fail, we're the jerks behind the government shut down, we've blocked progress on every occasion, we're the reason we keep going from fiscal crisis to fiscal crisis, we're not so subtly hinting at wanting to go to war with Russia,we actually have no solutions aside from give rich jerks more money and have them not create jobs, and we're constantly saying homophobic, xenophobic, misogynistic, nihilistic things, but this President we've severely weakened is getting the blame, and let's forget Congress' 2% approval rating and send more dysfunctional jerks to Washington. Cuz we'll fix things. And worse? it's working because the American public has the attention span of a goldfish.

But my complaint is, these monopoly owning Robber Barons that keep dumping money into the government to make sure it's dysfunctional and pay the beastly squawking heads are trying to say "hey! We may have Machiavellian schemes and will turn the planet into the backstory from Wall*e, but our products that we own too many of are good and making them hires people, even though we paid more for the PR firm to make this ad than all our low level employees combined." Seriously?! Yeah, the left thinks you're evil anyway, the conservatives only care about winning and pointing out hypocrisy when the left gets their rich business jerks giving them not quite as much money (especially if they're teacher's unions because demanding living wages is evil socialism), the middle of un-duh-cided voters are completely uninformed about everything and are too oblivious to care. So really, who is this commercial for, anyway?

Moving on to much less heavy issues... know what else commercial is annoying?

Those *&^$ Bright Eyes Blankets. They couldn't have found women that are more high pitched and flat to sing "Wiggle and Wag?" Over and over like 4 or 5 times in the commercial? It's blood curdling bad.

I hate thee long form, minute long mail order toy commercials.

Actually, my statement isn't fair. I do like the line in the Wubble ad about "Be nice to your Wubble, and keep it out of trouble."

Yeah, but other than that, they're the most obnoxious, narmy sounding things out there. I don't care much for the Ballpetz ad (glad I haven't seen it for a while) and its annoying rap. Why are they so much longer than the standard toy commercial anyway?

Progresso soup. Apparently kids won't touch veggies, but will devour them if you smother them (the veggies, not the kids) in broth (or Manwich sauce, or ranch dressing for that matter).

Enter the Clueless Dad, seeing his kids eating soup, picks up the soup can, and comments sharply, "Ahh, VEJ-IT-TAH-BULLS!"
"No," reminds his common-sense wife. "Soup!"
After a few moments, the truth dawns on him. "Oh...soup".

It used to be father figures were the ones the rest of the family turned to for wisdom and guidance. Now it seems most don't know which way is up. Tragic business.

Phineas and Ferb's dad is one of the few modern examples that don't succumb to that trope. He's really more of a dork than an idiot.
