I am still torn up over this.
John Hurt is my favorite actor, and has been for years. His ability to slip into any character so seamlessly is something to be admired, and I hold him to the highest regard. He not only gave me something to aspire to as an actor, but reminded me why I love acting in the first place. For this, I consider him my hero in every way. I was lucky enough to receive an autograph from him, after writing him a letter requesting one. Every so often, I take it out and look at it, remembering how it made me feel to watch his brilliance onscreen.
Rest in Peace, good Sir. I'll remember you for as long as I live, and hope to see you again someday <3

We Muppet fans should know him best as the titular character on Jim Henson's The Storyteller. He was even the voice of Hazel in the Watership Down movie.
Two of his greatest performances ever, in my opinion, along with Max in Midnight Express, Winston Smith in 1984, and Mr. Summers in All the Little Animals.
