I’ve noticed that Jeff Moss liked to use a particular tune in several of the songs he wrote for Sesame Street:

And of course, this classic from The Muppets Take Manhattan:

Even though parts of each song are different, the same tune appears.

Anyone know why Jeff Moss liked to use this particular tune in more than one song?

I read about a survey which concluded that most people enjoy the music of their teenage years more than other genres they heard as young children or later in life. Jeff Moss was a teenager in the mid-1950s when rock-and-roll and doo-wop were popular, so it makes sense that he wrote many Sesame Street songs based off of early rock-and-roll groups.
BTW, of the four songs posted above, "Raise Your Hand" is my favorite. Chris Cerf will always be one of the great Sesame singers, along with Bob McGrath, Jerry Nelson, and Richard Hunt.

The fact that he can still have a good voice even after screaming at the top of his lungs says enough right there.
