Importance of I'm Going to Go Back There Someday

This has never really made much sense to me. Don't get me wrong, it's a great song and I love it; but in TMM it seemed out of place. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

I agree with rex. But the song is also metaphoric. Just listen to the words. Remember the old saying, 'Who said you can never go home again?' I think it's true. One of my favorite songs. I love the remix on the anniv. cd too.:concern:

:sing: This looks familiar, vaguely familiar,
Almost unreal, yet, it's too soon to feel yet.
Close to my soul, and yet so far away.
I'm going to go back there someday.

Sun rises, night falls, sometimes the sky calls.
Is that a song there, and do I belong there?
I've never been there, but I know the way.
I'm going to go back there someday.

Come and go with me, it's more fun to share,
We'll both be completely at home in midair.
We're flyin', not walkin', on featherless wings.
We can hold onto love like invisible strings.
There's not a word yet for old friends who've just met.
Part heaven, part space, or have I found my place?
You can just visit, but I plan to stay.
I'm going to go back there someday.
I'm going to go back there someday.

I just love the song. One of Gonzo's favorites. The words are beautiful. Tomorrow I'll post the full Italian lyrics. :concern: :concern: :concern:

See, I think it fits perfectly in TMM- and is one of my favorite moments from any muppet movie. I think it fits so well because it's such a meloncholy moment for the muppets at that time, they are stranded out in the desert and it doesn't look like thier dream of singing, dancing and making people happy will ever come true. But yet they still want to believe in the dream- why? Because that what they think their purpose is, and they had worked so hard to get to the point they were at. Bit that's just my opinion...anyone else?

Well said mupvisiongirl. I totally agree with everything you said. It's a beautiful song and very well placed in the movie.
