WHen I did the casting, I did it with the idea that the Muppets themselves would be performing the Avenue Q puppets themselves...so the Muppeteers performing them would not only be responsible for their characters, but the characters their characters are performing.

I also thought some of Brian's lyrics from the first song were perfect for Fozzie to sing. And I wanted Bert to be Nicky and Ernie to be Rod just for a role reversal.

As I just finished a production of it, here's my Muppet cast of Pippin:

Pippin: Scooter
King Charles: Pa Gorg
Fastrada: Miss Piggy
Lewis: Link Hogthrob
Berthe: Trash Heap
Katherine: Mokey
Theo: Robin
Leading Player: Rowlf (I was going to choose Dr. Teeth, but I felt Rowlf edged him out just a bit in the cool department. Plus, Rowlf would be a bigger shock when revealed as a villain at the end.)

Ensemble of Players: Dr. Teeth, Floyd, Janice, Zoot, Lips, Animal, Gonzo, Pepe, Rizzo, Red Fraggle

This would be much better than whatever movie version of Pippin they're trying to make (and hopefully cancel) right now.

How about this one?

INTO THE WOODS
Baker: Gonzo
Baker's Wife: Camilla
Witch during Act 1: Astoria (Waldorf's significant other)
Witch during Act 2: Janice
Red Riding Hood: Red Fraggle (sorry, just had to!)
Gramma: Ma Gorg
Jack: Grover
Jack's Mom: Grover's beloved Mommy
Wolf: Animal
Prince 1: Ernie
Prince 2: Bert
Rapunzel: Kermit in a blonde wig (kinda like the olden days)
Sleeping Beauty: Skeeter
Cinderella: Piggy
Giant: a huge Crazy Harry
Narrator: Bunsen and Beaker in tandem

Also, the characters don't really die in this- whoever does this needs to play with the Sondheim formula a bit and make the whole thing a whole lot lighter!

Anybody like this?

OK, reviving an old thread here. I'm a newbie, so be kind.

I want to see THE MUPPET MIKADO! Gilbert & Sullivan's classic Japanese comedy would be a natural for the Muppets. And it's out of copyright! "*** Willow" (sung by Rowlf & Sam on the Muppet Show Album) is from this show, as is the classic "Three Little Maids from School Are We." (G&S also wrote "The Pirates of Penzance" as featured in the Gilda Radner episode.)

Kermit - Nanki Poo, a wand'ring minstrel (the Mikado's son in disguise)

Piggy - Yum-Yum, a blushing maiden (beautiful & vain, loves Nanki Poo)

Two other pigs - Pitti Sing & Peep Bo (her sisters)

Gonzo - Ko Ko, the Lord High Executioner
(he's got a little list of those who won't be missed, but
can't bring himself to actually kill anything...loves Yum
even tho she is repulsed by him)

Sam the Eagle - Pooh Bah, a haughty nobleman (easily bribed)

Scooter - Pish Tush, Pooh Bah's subordinate (a yes-man)

Uncle Deadly - The Mikado, ruler of Japan (a jolly despot)

New Muppet - Katisha, an elderly noblewoman, loves Nanki Poo
(just a wee-bit bloodthirsty)

Various others - Chorus of Japanese townspeople

Hmm, the only problem is there's no role for Fozzie. Perhaps he could play Pish Tush but it's not a large part and Scotter is better suited, really, since he's a go-fer anyway. Pepe would be funny but it's a singing role.

Piggy is an interesting case. She's more suited to play Katisha, but she'd never stand for being cast as anything but Yum Yum! Her "wrongness" for the role could actually be very funny.

I think this thread has already being suggested but never mind cause I´m mad about musicals!!
You all are recasting classic musicals, but what about the new ones? Queen (We will rock you)? Mamma Mia? Wouldn´t it be great? hehe
Here I go for Queen:

Galileo: Gonzo (pour misunderstood)
Scaramouche: Some ideas???
Killer Queen: Miss Piggy
Britney: Clifford
Oz:Janice
Kasshoggi: Kermit (the bad guy hahaha)
Pop: Animal...or maby Rowlf

I can´t remember if I casted it this way in the other thread...anyway
So, would anyone recast Mamma mia?? Come on!!
