Right. Back on track.

Who has seen "The Red Shoe Diaries"?

The bumpers for the show had David Duchovny and his dog picking up his mail from a postal box. He would then read the annonymous letters from women about an encounter they had and, as he started to read, the screen would fade into the story he was reading. I was never entirely sure why women were writing the letters to him. I was never all that interested in David Duchovny or his dog, just the story part.

Anyway, how about some contrived reason that one character (or even a person could do it) to receive the letters or videos from the other characters?

And the stories don't have to be soft core porn like "Red Shoe Diaries" was.

I like the idea of the puppets are a race discovering the world and the person recieving the tapes is just a leader figure for that race.

Mmm, yeah, like a boss who they all report back to. Plus this way, that one monster/figurehead would be the same, and everyone else if they so desired could create their own monster.
Why are they reporting to him, though? :O Does he want to move? >_> Is he looking for something? I can't remember if a purpose had been decided.

They want to take over the world... but the characters could be quite silly and entirely incable of taking over our planet.

Funny comparison... I was worried about what the point you were getting to was:smile:

The monsters are planning on taking over the planet, but they need to figure out how to do it, etc. The "Continuity Monster" is the keystone that holds together all the different bits. He's the Monster King/Overlord/Head Bureaucrat and he's in charge of all the "Scout Monsters." The Scouts are out in the world trying to learn as much as possible to make their invasion more successful, but like DannyRWW suggests, they really are no threat. Well, maybe a threat to themselves

This opens the door to "Hoobs" or "Uncle Traveling Matt" type segments out in the "field" and .... MST3K or "The Hilarious House of Frightenstein" type segements for the Continuity Monster. (Thanks again, BuckBeaver!)

The Continuity Monster segments can concern his own ongoing problem (ala the Doc and Sprocket segments, the Mad scientists on MST3K, etc.) and he doesn't really have to refer that specifically to the incoming message. Sort of like this:

C MONSTER: Ah ... another report in. Very interesting. I hope this monster didn't bungle things up too badly. Let's see ...

[insert clip]

C MONSTER: Very good! Ahhhh ... I can taste the sweet flavor of victory! BWA HA HA HA HA! Oh wait ... no, I just have grape jelly on my chin.

... or whatever.

This is really starting to take shape!

honestly- this is very good- but not too original (which is ok, i am a firm believer in the fact that is nothing new under the sun!) This sounds very similar to Invader Zim, which is a hilarious cartoon. And i think doing a puppet version of something similar to that would be fantastic and fit our need for diversity because of the different people involved with this project.

I think so far we have a loose framework that will allow for lots of individual orginal thought.

For instance, my monster scout may wind up accidentally becoming a movie star. You know ... he's investigating a long line of people standing around reading copies of the same piece of paper, carrying pictures of themselves. He joins the line and whammo - stars opposite Julia Roberts in "Monster of my Heart." Or some such.

The key to all of this is speed. We need to keep this snowball rolling downhill.

You can get Julia?

I mean, I know where she lives in Venice but I can't get close to the place.

Pesky restraining order.
