Actor Tony Jay, probably best known for his voiceover work (Megabyte in ReBoot, Judge Claude Frollo in Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame, Virgil from the Mighty Max series, Shere Khan from Jungle Book II), died on August 13 after a long recovery from lung surgery.

Rest in peace, Mr. Jay.

Aw man, and I was just thinking about him the other day...I was watch Hey Arnold! and he was doing the voice of that snobby rich grandfather who had issues with Arnold's Grandpa.

Too, too sad.

I tell you, for somebody who voiced a lot of villains, I couldn't help but feel he was a good guy in real life. When I first saw this thread, I immeadiately thought back to his guest spot on "Golden Girls", where he played Lazlo, an artist whose new sculpture was debuting at the museum Blanche worked at. It was a great episode; try to catch it on Lifetime! Although, what with Still Standing and Reba being shown on Lifetime, that substantially cuts back on my viewing time of the GG's.:grouchy:

Wow, he was one of my favorite voice actors of all-time. For those who don't know of him, he voiced Dr. Lipschitz in Rugrats, he played many narrator roles in series' such as World of Warcraft, Teen Titans, Austin Powers 2, and many others.

Well how old was he? He must've been pretty old.

Also did he play Shere Khan on that Tales Spin cartoon, because im pretty sure George Sanders did it in the Jungle Book.

Well, he was born sometime in the 1930s (Wikipedia has his birth year listed as 1935), so he was only in his late 60s/early 70s.

How sad. He was a great performer! I shall miss him.

By the way...he also voiced Monsier D'Arque in Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

I found out yesterday from my good friend Kristy who runs the VoiceChasers.com site. I cried, I was so sad to hear the news. He was also the voice of Lord Dregg from the red sky episodes of the original TMNT. What a voice, what an actor, what a loss...
