There was an animated version of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown". Does anyone know of any plans to release it to DVD? Or even a movie version of the show? Or do I have to wait for one of the local theater troupes/high school drama clubs to put it on?

I'm currently obsessed/ in love with the cast recording to the Drowsy Chaperone... Sutton Foster is incredible... some of my other favorites include: The Last Five Years, Spring Awakening, The Color Purple, Jersey Boys, Les Miserables and many many many others.

Shows I've seen include: Cats, Godspell, Hairspray, Les Miserables, South Pacific, and Wicked

I'm seeing Hairspray for a second time in 2 weeks. I can't wait! And, I am currently planning a trip to New York at the end of June to see Beauty and the Beast in its final weekend.

Musicals are my FORTE (btw, apparently that word is pronounced fort, like something you build, rather than fortay, like the term in music for very loud).

Living in NY = AWESOME for seeing musicals. Recently I've seen The Apple Tree, Mary Poppins and The Wedding Singer (which I totally enjoyed. Major guilty pleasure. Plus Stephen Lynch is ridiculously adorable. It's closed now though :cry: ). My all time favs include The Phantom of the Opera, Into the Woods, The Light in the Piazza, Sweeney Todd, Avenue Q, Little Shop (it was on HBO last night woot!), Spelling Bee, The Secret Garden... I could go on all day!

I am so not excited for Shrek the musical. I am over Shrek like Britney's over sanity.

My favorite musical is "Fiddler ON The Roof", hands down.
I love the story and especially love the movie version. The actor Topol, who plays Tevye looks like my dad (No, I'm not kidding.)!!

You know, I've lived in NY state my whole life, and have visited NYC almost every year since 1996, and I've never seen a Broadway show... or even an off-Broadway show. I hope to go next time I'm there, though.

Actually, the only musical I've ever seen on the stage is Bye-Bye Birdie. But I have the book for Avenue Q, and the original cast recording, so I can say I've seen that. :wink:

Soooooooooo, any Pirates of Penzance fans? :big_grin: (there's one I just thought of!)

:sing:
GENERAL:

I am the very model of a modern Major-General,
I've information vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I know the kings of England, and I quote the fights historical
From Marathon to Waterloo, in order categorical;
I'm very well acquainted, too, with matters mathematical,
I understand equations, both the simple and quadratical,
About binomial theorem I'm teeming with a lot o' news,
With many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse.

ALL:
With many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse.
With many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse.
With many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse.

GENERAL:
I'm very good at integral and differential calculus;
I know the scientific names of beings animalculous:
In short, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I am the very model of a modern Major-General.

ALL:
In short, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral,
He is the very model of a modern Major-General.

GENERAL:
I know our mythic history, King Arthur's and Sir Caradoc's;
I answer hard acrostics, I've a pretty taste for paradox,
I quote in elegiacs all the crimes of Heliogabalus,
In conics I can floor peculiarities parabolous;

I can tell undoubted Raphaels from Gerard Dows and Zoffanies,
I know the croaking chorus from the Frogs of Aristophanes!
Then I can hum a fugue of which I've heard the music's din afore,
And whistle all the airs from that infernal nonsense Pinafore.

ALL:
And whistle all the airs from that infernal nonsense Pinafore.
And whistle all the airs from that infernal nonsense Pinafore.

GENERAL:
Then I can write a washing bill in Babylonic cuneiform,
And tell you ev'ry detail of Caractacus's uniform:
In short, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I am the very model of a modern Major-General.

ALL:
In short, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral,
He is the very model of a modern Major-General.

GENERAL:
In fact, when I know what is meant by "mamelon" and "ravelin",
When I can tell at sight a Mauser rifle from a javelin,
When such affairs as sorties and surprises I'm more wary at,
And when I know precisely what is meant by "commissariat",
When I have learnt what progress has been made in modern gunnery,
When I know more of tactics than a novice in a nunnery--
In short, when I've a smattering of elemental strategy,
You'll say a better Major-General has never sat a gee.

ALL:
You'll say a better Major-General has never sat a gee.
You'll say a better Major-General has never sat a gee.
You'll say a better Major-General has never sat a gee.

GENERAL:
For my military knowledge, though I'm plucky and adventury,
Has only been brought down to the beginning of the century;
But still, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I am the very model of a modern Major-General.

ALL:
But still, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral,
He is the very model of a modern Major-General.

Haha! I heart Pirates of Penzance!! I've been in it twice and own the Kevin Kline/Linda Rhondstadt version. We had to memorize Modern Major General for speech class and everyone was tripping over themselves and I totally had it pat since I'd heard it since 8th grade!

Every heard the Nightmare Song? Now there's a Gilbert & Sullivan doozy.
