JJ's Muppets in Kingdom Hearts fanfic!

Hello everyone, I've been meaning to do and started a couple threads discussing what it would be like if the Muppets were a part of Kingdom Hearts. Since the Muppets are now owned by Disney it totally makes sense that they could be. Well I've been playing Kingdom Hearts 2 like crazy, so I though I'll do my first fanfic about the Muppets in Kingdom Hearts. It's loosely based on the Muppet movie, and it's still a bit of a working progress, as right now I think I probably need more levels or what have you. But I really wanted to finished what I did so far and share it with my fellow MC forum members, let me also say in advance that I'm sorry for any spelling errors or typos. Hope you'll enjoy it, so here we go....

We see Sora, Donald and Goofy, land in a world where nothing is around, nothing is happening, not a sound, it seems to be just a bunch of open space.

Goofy: Well no sign of the Heartless here.

Donald: There isn't anything here.

Sora: But you never know, maybe...

(A falling star shoots by, catching Sora's attention.)

Sora: Something tells me...

(Sora goes running chasing the falling star)

Donald: (To Goofy) Where is he going?

Goofy: I don't know but I think we better follow him.

(Donald and Goofy go off chasing Sora)

(Fade out)

Fade back to the falling star, where a green frog is looking up at the sky and sees the same falling star Sora was chasing. The star disappears and Sora stops when he sees the unknown frog, Donald and Goofy catch up .

Donald: What's the big idea? Running off like that!

Sora: Sorry, something inside me told me to follow that star, I guess I though it would lead me to Riku and Kairi.

Goofy: But instead it lead us to this little green guy.

(Sora, Donald and Goofy look at him for a moment.)

Goofy: Gawish, poor little fella looks down.

(Sora, Donald and Goofy start walking toward the green frog.)

Sora: Hello there.

(Kermit turns around)

Kermit: oh, hi-ho

Sora: My name is Sora.

Donald: I'm Donald

Goofy: Goofy's the name.

Kermit: Oh I'm Kermit, Kermit the frog.

Sora: Is everything alright?

Kermit: I've had better days.

Goofy: Well what's the matter?

Kermit: Well, I was on my way to Hollywood and along the way I met others who wanted to come along.

Donald: What's wrong with that?

Kermit: We're going to miss the auditions, they really believed in me and I just let them down.

Sora: But you're lucky, you're with your friends.

Goofy: Yeah, at least you're not alone.

Kermit: But if I was alone, than it would just be me feeling miserable. Now I got a dog, a bear, a lady pig and a thing, whatever Gonzo is, he's a little like a turkey. Anyhow I lead them to the middle of nowhere and it's all my fault.

Sora: Trust me, it's better to be with your friends, no matter what, you're lucky as along as you have friends that stick with you.

Out of nowhere a loud scream is heard

Miss. Piggy: (Yelling in fear) KERMIE!

Kermit: Piggy?

(Gameplay: follow Kermit to "Roadside camp site")

Once there a bunch of Heartless, that look a lot like moving marionettes, are surrounding Gonzo, Fozzie Bear, Rowlf the dog and Miss. Piggy.

Donald: Heartless!

Sora: We'll take care of these guys, Kermit.

(Gameplay: Defeat the all the Heartless while protecting the Muppets)

After the Heartless are all defeated.

Kermit: Is everyone okay?

Piggy: We're fine Kermit, all thanks to you.

Donald: Hey, we're the ones that fought the Heartless.

Piggy: Yes, but Kermit was the one that shown real leadership and was so very brave.

Kermit: Piggy.

Donald: Oh brother.

Fozzie Bear: That was scary.

Gonzo: What were those strange thing?

Sora: Those were the Heartless and trust us, their no good.

Kermit: Well thank goodness you and your friends were here Sora, otherwise who knows what would of happen to us.

Sora: No problem Kermit. Hey but by any chance have you seen anyone named Riku or Kairi.

Kermit: Hmmm, sorry, never heard of them. I wish I did know of them, but I don't.

Sora: Oh well, I've been looking for them, just thought maybe you knew something. Darn it.

Fozzie: Hey Kermit, you don't think Doc Hopper sent those things, do you?

Goofy: Doc Hopper?

Kermit: he's this rich man who owns a frog's legs restaurant.

Donald: Froglegs?

Fozzie: Yeah, he wants Kermit to be the mascot.

Kermit: He's been following me for awhile now, trying to get me to do his commericals for his "Doc Hopper's French Fried Frog Legs," makes me sick. I keep telling him no, but he won't ease up.

Rowlf: Hey guys.

Everyone turns to Rowlf.

Rowlf: Good news, I think I got the car running again.

Kermit: Gee Rowlf, that would be good news. Let's see.

Rowlf starts the car up, which also sets the radio on, Doc Hopper's voice is heard.

Doc Hopper: Attention, attention, this is Doc Hopper with a message for Kermit the frog, I'm through playing games frog, so I hired a specialist, he's name is Pete.

Sora, Donald, Goofy: Pete!

Fozzie: You guys know him.

Sora: Yeah and that explans why the Heartless are here too.

Doc Hopper: Hope you got the message, frog. Doc Hopper over and out.

Piggy: Kermie, what are we going to do?

Fozzie: This is bad, we have to hide you Kermit.

Sora: That's sounds like a good idea, we'll take care of whatever Pete is working with him for, you don't have to worry about anything Kermit.

Kermit looks up at Sora, than turns to Rowlf.

Kermit: Rowlf, where's the nearest town?

Rowlf: The closest thing ahead is that old Abandoned Ghost Town, many miles ahead.

Kermit: Fine, Fozzie.

Fozzie: Yes sir.

Kermit: Tell Doc Hopper to me there.

Everyone: (In surpise) What?

Gonzo: But Kermit, this guy is getting dangerous.

Rowlf: You could be killed.

Sora: Kermit, I said we can take care of this, don't worry.

Kermit: Thanks Sora, but I can't spend my life running from a bully and having other fight my battles, I have to face him. Fozzie find a way to tell him.

Fozzie: Yes sir

Gameplay: You (Sora) can right now go up to the Muppets and speak to them in text form. When you push the command talk to each Muppet, they each say something different. Here's what they'll say...

Kermit: Sora, I can't let this guy keep trying to bully me to get what he wants, I have to face him.

Miss. Piggy: Oh I do hope my Kermit will be okay, Sora please don't let anything bad happen to him.

Gonzo: Kermit says he'll met Doc Hopper at the "Abandoned Ghost Town," I sure hope he knows what he's doing.

Fozzie: Hey Sora, why did the boy throw his watch out the window? (You choose either "I don't know Fozzie, why? or "Not right Fozzie" if you choose the first one Fozzie says...) He wanted to see time fly, get it? Wocka wocka, ohh I'm just trying to lighten the mood.

Rowlf: Are we ready to go to the Abandoned Ghost town?
(You choose either "Yeah let's go" or "Later," if you choose "Yeah let's go," Rowlf drives you there)

Once Rowlf drives you to "Abandoned Ghost Town"

Kermit: Everyone stay here, this is something I have to do alone.

Sora: We have to go with you, Kermit, if Pete is with him, something is up.

Kermit: Okay, Sora, you guys should come, but everyone else just stay here for a while okay.

Piggy: Careful, Kermie.

Gameplay: You may now have Kermit in your party with his weapon of choice a long stick. You must fight all the Heartless until you reach Doc Hopper and Pete right towards the end of the Ghost town.

(Once you've defeated the Heartless)

Pete: The frog should be here very soon.

Hopper: He'll be making a lot of money for me, when I make him the face of "Doc Hopper's French Fried Frog Legs," otherwise I'll have to let you and your boys (more Heartless arrive) take care of them.

Pete: Just remember, you can have the frog, but I'll take his friends so Maleficent can turn them into Heartless. That should help get me on her good side, if she even has one.

Kermit: Hopper.

Hopper: Aw, looks who's here. Last chance frog, you gonna volunteer to came and work for me or should these guys make you.

Kermit: Hopper you gonna be crazy following me all this way. What's the matter with you?

Hopper: All my life I wanted to own a chain of frog leg restaurants and you're the key greenie.

Kermit: Yeah well I got a dream too, but it's about singing and dancing and making people happy. (Sora, Donald and Goofy walk up behind Kermit) That's the kind of dream that gets better the more people you share it with, and I found a whole bunch of friends who have the same dream (the other Muppets walk up) and that sort of makes us a family. I mean who are you sharing your dreams with, who's your friends Doc? Pete there? I think if you look inside your heart, you'll find that you really want to let me and my friends go. But if that's not the kind of man you are, than have your Heartless kill me.

Sora: What?

Everyone is silent as they wait for Doc Hopper's reply.

Pete: (Laughing) Nice little heartful speech my little green friend, but I'm afraid it has no effect, because you see...

(Doc begans to change, turning into some sort of Heartless monster)

Pete: He's greed and lustful ways for money, the way he doesn't care about others as well as he gets what he wants, well that made him a perfect canididate for a Heartless, and he was willing to be one to get his hands on your little green flippers.

Kermit: Uh-Oh.

Sora: Well, Pete you guys still aren't getting him.

Gameplay, the boss level, you must battle both Heartless Hopper and Pete.

Once they've been defeated.

Doc Hopper is knocked out and falls down.

Pete: Well looks like I got nothing else to do here, I'm out, who needs a bunch of "whatevers" to be Heartless, anyway?

(Pete runs away)

Kermit: Sora, thank you very much.

Sora: Why you thanking me Kermit? You're the one who stood up to Doc Hopper.

Kermit: No, I'm thanking you for what you told me when we first met. Remember you told me no matter what, I'm lucky as long as my friends are with me and you were right. Now I'm even more lucky, cause I made a new friend with you, Sora.

Sora: Thanks Kermit.

Piggy: Oh Kermie, kissie kissie.

Piggy steals a kiss from Kermit.

Kermit: Oh Piggy.

Rowlf: What's that?

Gonzo: Wow!

A bright spte where Doc Hopper lies pops up, showing the keyhole. Sora uses he's keyblade to lock it.

Kermit: You know in a way, I actually feel sorry for Doc, all he get was his own greed. Too bad he'll be missing he life out on what it's like to have such wonderful friends.

Donald: I agree.

Kermit: And speaking of wonderful friends, Sora, I do hope you find your missing friends soon.

Sora: Thanks Kermit, me too, well we better get going. I'll visit you guys real soon.

Gonzo: It's a real shame you guys have to go.

Donald: Why is that?

Rowlf: Fozzie never had a better audience.

Fozzie: So what do you call a boomerang that doesn't come back when you throw it?

Goofy: Gawish, I don't know, what do you call a boomerang that doesn't come back?

Fozzie: A stick, get it, wocka wocka.

Goofy: (Laughs)

Everyone starts laughing.

You did a really good job picking the moment Kermit and Sora meet (though I personally would have expected Piggy -- who CAN fight -- in your party, rather than Kermit *meh*). Since this is so short, though, what was your plan, because KH2 has that "First Story, Second Story" thing to do. I would rather have this replace the Little Mermaid mini-game thing. Start off with the Muppet Movie, and as the story progresses, have scenes from the other movies and you have to help out. Off-hand, I could see (like the Little Mermaid) helping out the ballroom scene in GMC, the quest to find Kermit from TMTM (even better, he's not even on his world anymore but the root town), etc.
edit: Since "the quest for Kermit" wouldn't really be a mini-game, helping the rats out with their cooking scene would be a great mini-game.

I'd also be interested in hearing your opinion of what their special attacks would be (including the team attack with Sora).

Other than some issues with grammar in some of the dialogue, I think this is pretty good.


edit: Also, since Sora has that twinkle in his eye, I could so see him get wrapped up in trying to become a movie star as well. The ending movie for the Muppet World could have the Muppets (to Sora's brief disappointment that he isn't getting one) get an award for being "rich and famous", and you could finish off with the Muppet Movie's song finale.

Actually I was and really still debating if any of the Muppets should be in your party, but like I said it's still something I'm working on, so I thought for now, just have Kermit in there, couldn't think of anything better for him to do than attack with a stick, I was thinking his banjo, but thought that was a little corny, .

As for special attacks, I was thinking that at the end of this level, you would get a pendent that would summon Animal. Animal's attack would be to go insane with his drum sticks all the while screaming Ayyy-ieee-ieee, . I haven't thought about team attacks yet, but I am now.

Sorry about the grammer mistakes as well as a few typos (I was just rereading just now, which is too late, lol.), as you can see when I was done typing all that in, it was getting real late, past three to be excact, and I was too tired to double check my work, to sum it up, I got lazy, lol.

But yeah I'm totally going to add another chapter, as you said in KH2 there is two parts to each world, and I love that about the game. You have some pretty neat ideas for mini games I might have to steal a few of them, . I was maybe thinking in the next chapter, Kermit has the Muppet theatre up and running, to which I would probably intoduce Scooter, and have a mini game where you must play the notes the same as Rowlf. Yeah, and then we would probably have to sit through "corn-ear" jokes.

Animal is PERFECT as a summon. He could be similar to Stitch, in that he can disable characters through music or by biting them.

Oh, it wouldn't be stealing ... I was just giving suggestions. Feel free to lift as many as you want. Yeah, there definitely needs to be a musical mini-game (and if it's with Rowlf, a most excellent in-joke would be that if you get it less-than-perfect, Rowlf talks about loving out-of-tune pianos).

I was just thinking about it again, maybe I'll add a little more to the story I already have, like you suggested RedPiggy, something to do with the finale, which I'll name the "Magic Store" hmmm, maybe that would be a good name for there whole world actually, or maybe Hollywood, .

But yeah I'm totally going to get to work on more Muppets in Kingdom Hearts Fanfics and I hope you've enjoyed reading what I've done so far, . I also want to do a fanfic in which Darkwing Duck is feature cause that's my favorite of the "Disney afternoon" cartoon shows and I always thought it could be a good fit for Kingdom Hearts, .

But yeah I'll totally do some re-editing and just re do it all together, but like I said I hope you've enjoyed what you've read so far, thanks again. I actually do hope more people will let know what they think

I like it so far. I like the idea of how they met with the shooting star. What got to me was the lack of the Electric Mayhem. It would be great to add more scenes into this. Like the idea that was stated before of having different movies combined into one. Maybe the reason for that would be that since the heartless are there, things have been getting screwed up and crossed over. It would be great for there to be a part inside the Happiness Hotel. I would also love to see a part inside the Muppets Theater. There could be a mini-game with the Electric Mayhem and upon beating it you get the Animal summon. It would also be great if, say in the Muppets Theater, Statler and Waldorf randomly get a scene where they are heckling you about what you are doing. Or of you do something wrong.

These are just ideas and suggestions. All and all, I really like the idea you have.

You know, I actually was thinking about adding the Electric Mayhem, when I first thought of this, I was going to stick to the movie and have the Mayhem find Kermit and the gang. The only thing I wanted to change about that part was that instead of them finding Kermit cause of the screenplay that was left behind by Fozzie and Kermit as they did in the movie, I was going to do a thing where they saw the Heartless dark shadows and Zoot thought it was a UFO sign. But I don't know, I guess I figure it would be too many characters at one time, it's not that I don't want to include Mayhem, I think's it's easy to see by my name that I love them (esp Janice, ), but I figure Rowlf should have a bigger part, cause, come on he's Rowlf, lol. But maybe I should of stuck with my original idea, maybe it could of made my fanfic a little better, who knows? Like I say, it's still a working progress, so I'm not totally done with it, but really wanting to hear more feedback on it.

Well, of course, Rowlf is Rowlf, he needs to be in more things. I wasn't saying leave him out. I mean, you can have the same beginning but it could be that you go through different scenes, like at the church where they first meet the Mayhem or something.

I don't know, just random suggestions.

And I LOVE the Electric Mayhem too. I find it so amusing that you mentioned Zoot and UFOs, it just seems like from that part in Muppets Take Manhatten he has some sort of interest in them. But that is besides the point.

Well, to be fair to Janice, Kingdom Hearts is never 100% accurate. Switching Sora & co for the EM and switching Pete for the Frog Killer is right in line with how that game works.
edit: Not only that, but the screenplay joke works better with the movie, than the game ... unless the EM has the game manual or strategy guide

I do agree with Gemini that the Animal Summon would be natural after an EM mini-game.

I was going to do a thing where they saw the Heartless dark shadows and Zoot thought it was a UFO sign.

That would be in character and funny, and it could be tied to subtle in-jokes (not a major plot) about Gonzo.

Excatly, which is why I left out EM, like I said I'm a total fan, but I figured there would be too many characters at one time. Characters get cut from the game all the time, like you said it works better for the movie than the game. I was kind of bummed that Zazu wasn't a part of the Pride Lands (Lion King world), him and Rafiki are my favorite characters in the movie.

Plus like I said I wanted Rowlf in there and I thought he should have a bigger part by fixing the car, if EM showed up with the Bus to pick the gang up, it would be really hard to think of something else to have him do, , I thought it would make sense that Rowlf would know how to work on cars, .

Sadly though if Muppets did get the Kingdom Hearts treatment, Rowlf probably would get left out in favor of (gasp) probably Pepe or maybe Rizzo. But this is my fanfic and I want Rowlf there, .
