    Steve Whitmire on The MuppetCast

Muppets as Real Characters With both last week's and this week's podcast I got a kick out of the discussion of the muppets as 3-dimensional characters. Thought it was especially appropriate given my experience with a Steve Whitmire character, Sprocket. I vividly remember being 5 years old...

The MuppetCast - Show #88 - Christmas Eve on Sesame Street

I don't think I've actually seen that Christmas Special since whenever the last time it aired on TV. Had some pleasant childhood memories like hearing Bob say "Happy Hanukkah" to Mr. Hooper...and then asking my mother what he meant. And I'm curious...how many of you muppet fans read "The Gift...

The MuppetCast - Show #79 - John Denver

I too loved the John Denver episode. Back in college, when most of us wouldn't admit we were John Denver fans...one night my friend and I were taking a ride in his car. The friend put on "Grandma's Feather Bed" and didn't say a word. He just quietly watched me until I joined in on the...

The MuppetCast - Show #73 - Terry Angus Pt. 1

I agree. I love the Uncle Deadly appearances in the Alice Cooper episode as well. I'm amazed that I always loved that Alice Cooper episode so much, when at the time Scooby Doo gave me nightmares.

    Roosevelt Franklin

Ah memories...I had 3 of him with my Fisher Price muppet playhouse.

The MuppetCast - Show #73 - Terry Angus Pt. 1

I was so happy when Large Marvin made the obscure muppet list. I was waiting for somebody to mention Uncle Deadly.

The MuppetCast - Show #72 - Oh, Lou!

Hey Steve! I have a couple of comments about the show as well. Christopher Cerf was also one of the founders of National Lampoon. There's an entertaining discussion between him, and a guy that pretended to be him....to get girls....on This American Life. The link to the episode is below...

The MuppetCast - Show #71 - Monsters in the Kitchen

I'm glad Grover, of course, made the monster list. He's also the reason I was able to survive the dreaded Celine Dion song "My Heart Will Go On." I always like to do the refrain in a Grover voice. "Neeeeeeeear faaaaaaaaar"

The MuppetCast - Show #64 - The Muppet Movie

Yeah the Fozzie version was how I learned the song too. I remember asking my mother if the "bump bah bah bum" part were really part of the words.

The MuppetCast - Show #64 - The Muppet Movie

You couldn't have had better timing with this one. :) I lost my mind and rather spontaneously went on a road trip from Wisconsin to the western states. I kept having the Fozzie Bear version of "America the Beautiful" stuck in my head. I just love the idealism of this movie that what inspires...

    The MuppetCast - Show #58 - A Tribute to Jim (2008)

I also was delighted with the Frank Oz interview. Very satisfying to hear answered a lot of the things I've been wondering myself, specifically how Jim and Frank's relationship was reflected in the characters they play. It would be interesting, if you are fortunate to have time with him...

    Gobo's "eh"...

There are a number of words Gobo says with a distinctly Canadian accent. Like when he starts talking about the "moon." As a Sheboygan native, when I was a kid, I just thought he sounded like my neighbors. It wasn't until watching the series again as an adult that I realized "Oh, Ontario!"

The MuppetCast - Show #56 - Digits, Giants, and Slippers

Ah you included "You And I And George"! :) I always have a very specific George in mind during that song. I too relate very strongly to Rowlf. I have shoulder-length brown hair so I'm told when I'm playing piano...it looks quite a bit like Rowlf's ears flopping around.

    The MuppetCast - Show #54 - <Insert Clever Title>

Which reminds me...I was a tad disappointed that you didn't include the Kira calling out her animal friends sound byte. I used to LOVE imitating that scene. If you need a gelfling voice for your next awards show, let me know. :P

    The MuppetCast - Show #54 - <Insert Clever Title>

Hm....last message didn't seem to go through so let me try again. *insert old fogey voice here* I haven't done this new-fangled forum business before! I would be in the "like" rather than "love" category for "The Dark Crysyal." However, I think that's partly because I saw it roughly 50...
