    Using Commercially built puppets

I've used mostly puppets from the now defunct puppetproductions.com. The Folkmanis stuff is pretty popular and looks good, but i havent used them yet. You can also get a custom whatnot from the FAO Schwatrz Muppet Whatnot Studio for $90! http://tinyurl.com/faompt

Where can I get a puppet rack holder?

Make sure there's nothing too pointy! I've used bent coathangers covered with foam, but right now all mine live in a box (and its getting crowded!) I'm also a woodworker and I've been kicking around a few ideas for a nice wall rack.

    New Puppet Video: Gathering Storm

No.. the DumbAscii Files aren't getting political on you, but the the whole controversy about the NOM "Gathering Storm" anti gay marriage commercial was pure puppet inspiration, and the leaked Audition tapes made it even better, so of course a spoof was soon to follow! Needless to say, none of...

    Kids touching puppets!

Well puppets touching children isn't a good idea either, you could get a lot of funny looks that way :P I think the idea of giving the kids a way to touch the puppet is good. Some friends of mine who had a puppet ministry had a puppet they used before and after their show to talk to the kids...

    Making Custom Accessories

I guess I'd agree if you're making them super thin, or expect your puppet to take a lot of abuse. (STOP PUPPET ABUSE NOW!) IMHO, it's much easier to work with. I've used it in other applications and its proven pretty durable, but to each their own.

    Making Custom Accessories

Once its baked it would be fine. You'd have to be careful with any thin, long pieces, like the stems, but you'll have that problem with any material.

    Making Custom Accessories

I have to second the polymer clay suggestion (FIMO, Premo.sculpty). Luckily I have a friend who is a very talented clay artist! Plus its perfectly safe to rub all over yourself should you be so inclined!

Need advice on adult puppet web-series

My humor tends to be laced with references to things people of my age/generation would get. (I'm 36, but I also have the sense of humor of a 12 year old boy at times, so there's a random doody joke here and there) I totally agree about avoiding profanity and blatant sexual humor. It can be...

New Puppet Video - Crazy Roddy's

Hey all! I posted my latest puppet video to YouTube. This one is a spoof on IL Governor Rod Blagojevich. The puppet I used is from Puppet Productions, but I had a friend help me create the hair and the tie. Can't be Blago without the hair after all! This was the first time I've used a green...

    How to start making puppets?

The Order of Things Hey all! I've just begun to get serious about making my own puppets (pics and stuff coming soon!) and I was just wondering what order you prefer do things in... I mean like making the mouth first, how you attach everything etc. The great thing about all this is there's...

    Shipping Puppets

Just make sure you use about twice as many ties as you really need, and twist them all so tight you need bolt cutters to get them loose.. a la Mattel style!
