    Bear 10th Anniversary Celebration

Johnny, Sal and Bear on Telethon

Johnny Fiama and Sal, and Bear in the Big Blue House, will appear Monday, September 6 for the Jerry Lewis Telethon. Johnny and Sal will be performing their usual hilarious antics, while Bear will be performing a brand-new song. As they say: "check your local listings."

    Bear in 2004

Guys, Disney paid over 50 million to own Bear in the Big Blue House -- more than they paid for Kermit and friends, actually. Obviously, you don't pay out that kind of cash if you're not going to continue to grow the franchise. Disney is a huge company with many departments, egos, budgets...

    Jerry Nelson Recasts

Glad to help! Also glad also you got the "Princess Melora" reference. *The Frog Prince* is one of my favorite Muppet productions, especially Jerry's Robin.

    Jerry Nelson Recasts

Jerry will continue to perform the Count on Sesame Street, but there were auditions this week for his other characters (with Jerry's blessing). No word yet on who will be doing what.

    Bear in 2004

Bear is Back Hey guys, Just a note to say that while the deal with Henson and Disney went through in the spring, there were a lot of legal matters to finalize before going ahead with any Muppet and Bear projects. Now that everything is signed and all the ink has dried, projects for Bear will...

What kind of soda does Dave Goelz like to drink?

Libations Jerry likes beer, but I'm sure he likes popcorn, too.

Muppet reference on HBO's The Sopranos

Did anyone catch the reference to the "CTW puppeteer" who was featured in the Vows (wedding) section of the New York Times on The Sopranos? (The context is that to get profiled in the highly coveted Vows section, you need a gimick, like being a Sesame Street puppeteer). Very funny!

    Puppets on "Angel"

The WB's Angel will have an episode airing on February 18 that features a bunch of evil children's television puppets -- who are really demons. The lead character, Angel, is also turned into a puppet. Chaos ensues, of course. Henson puppeteers Victor Yerrid and Alice Dinnean are two of the...

    Henson grandkids?

Cheryl has a daughter and I believe John has two daughters. Lisa has a son -- not sure if there are any more. Neither Brian nor Heather have kids.

    All-new Bear on Hollywood Squares

Thank you -- but I merely report the coolness of others.

    All-new Bear on Hollywood Squares

To the best of my knowledge, there will be no new episodes for Disney Channel, because there are already well over a hundred. But Shadow Projects and Henson are in talks for a movie (yay!) and a series of direct-to-DVD specials, showing Bear and Co. in the real world, interacting with humans...

    All-new Bear on Hollywood Squares

    Bear on ABC/Disney Christmas Parade

It was indeed the real costume. The left arm is pinned deliberately, as not to catch on any unsuspecting child. It's easy to tell because the MGM Bears are all uniformly gold, while TV Bear has shades, variations in texture and color, and shadowing around the eyes.

    Henson closes NY office

From what I understand, some of the marketing and licensing people, as well as a small staff of builders, will move over to the space formerly occupied by the Muppet Workshop (and owned by Jane Henson). So there will still be a small Henson corporate presence in NYC, albeit not at the Muppet...

    Noel MacNeal

Noel MacNeal is alive and well and -- this week at least -- working on Sesame Street. The Bear franchise is alive and well too -- there are plans for a series of direct-to-video releases showing Bear in the real world (interacting with real people outside the Big Blue House) to be taped in...

    Bear on ABC/Disney Christmas Parade

Yep, it's the real Bear, performed by Noel MacNeal. He'll be singing "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree."
