Sorry to resurrect this thread,
but today I decided "let me buy my fraggle dolls" so I started searching and discovered that there was no Mokey.
?
How any company could conceive of a fraggle set and not include Mokey baffles the mind, but anyway...
so I found this thread. But then it...
Even with *no* extras, the new 16x9 WS transfers will make these all a must-have. I'm hopeful that the bonus material will be appreciable...I can't wait to get these and review them!
dave :)
Good News...
I just spoke with my Disney Rep who checked in on the matter. He said that the press release was incomplete...and that both asepct ratio options (16x9 WS OAR and 4x3 P/S) will be available on all 4 DVD presentations.
THIS IS GREAT NEWS.
And since all for of these titles were...
I also seem to remember the "retrospective" being featured in one of the trailers...I think on the Muppet-Oz DVD...that's not on the Season 1 set either. Hmmm....

Just to remind American viewers, the European version of Fraggle Rock (the current 3-disc version selling on ebay) does NOT have the sequences with Doc and Sprocket as you're familiar...they are replaced with the lighthouse keeper for that market. While I enjoy my earlier PAL Fraggle DVD, I...
Fraggle Rock Series...complete Seasons...Ahhh...
Keep in mind that those other examples were all shot on film and so "restoration" was possible given the optical/physical nature of the format. Fraggle Rock was all deposited on video (Beta?) and so has some inherent issues that just come with...
Sounds to me like the problem isn't so much the WS version as it is the size of your TV screen (we've all been there...and some of us still are).
Start saving for your next big-screen or projector!
dave :) :) :)
What scene is missing from the DVD? I've watched it twice on the DVD (and have seen the movie twice in the theater, several times on laserdisc and several times on "TV") and didn't notice anything that had been edited. That *would* be a serious problem with the DVD if something really is...
Hey Erine,
I'm wondering if you understand the difference between the "widescreen" version and the "video" version that fills your TV. It's true that some folks just prefer the "square" version that fills their TV because they don't like black bars...and if this is you then I'm not going to...
Since most of the Fraggle parts are the same...and it's mostly Doc and traveling Matt that are customized...wonder if seamless branching or mutiple-angles couldn't be used to provide both versions on the same disc? Just how many unique versions were there?
Of course, Since Europe needs PAL...
I had the earlier DVD edition (with the making-of documentary) which is excellent. Gorgeous picture and sound...though only 2.0 ProLogic (not 5.1). The new superbit DVD has 5.1 DD and DTS but I haven't opened it yet as I've heard tale that they DTS track has a lip-sync delay that's quite...
I was wondering the same thing. All my friends constantly ask me (as though I should know) "So, when are the Fraggle Rock episodes coming out on DVD??"
Any news? Does anyone think that the Henson folks buying back their company might be good or bad news as far as expiditing Fraggles on DVD...
If it made the difference between having the DVD set done right or not I'd be happy with on-line only (such as with Time Life).
MUSIC is my no 1 extra (pcm stereo studio mixes)...
but,
I'd also love to have the option to view the international "doc" and "travelling Matt" sequences too...
Luke,
Fraggle Rock is definitely in stereo. When it aired on HBO my friend taped all the shows to hi-fi VHS. We then taped the musical sequences to DAT with the expecation that eventually we'd burn some CDs to archive the music. If the DVDs come out that would make it unnecessary.
And...
Karen,
I hear ya loud and clear. Administrators please feel free to edit my earlier post with Henson contact info (i can't edit it now).
My biggest fear here is that the Henson folks will think "how quaint, they want fraggle DVDs" and then think "hey, this is kids stuff...let's make a cute...
Keep it up folks.
Everyone CALL CALL CALL CALL Disney. Also, you can contact Henson Company and let them know that you want them to step in an take action on your behalf. Let them know that as muppet fans you really want their films in widescreen. They don't have direct control over these...
