Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I think most Brits are familiar with SNL (in fact we used to have our own version, Friday Night Live in the 80s), but I don't think people are that familiar with the SNL cast. If they'd introduced him as "From Saturday Night Live..." it might have added a bit more oomph.
That's being slightly...
Not much more to add than what's been posted here.
What I will say is that I have never been so confident that The Muppets are match-ready for a new Muppet Show. Their interaction with the guests, their pre-recorded skits, their musical numbers. All fantastic.
BUT...
It pains me to say...
Not quite. As I'm sure you know, the story of TVS is incredibly complicated - particularly after its demise.
Maidstone Studios Ltd was actually once known as TVS Productions Ltd and has gone through several name changes since it was founded in 1980.
TVS' programming rights were owned by a...
New Matt Vogel appearance as part of a (very) brief cameo in this year's Christmas advert for the UK supermarket chain Sainsbury's.
Around the 1 min mark, followed by a Muppet Show style cheer at the end.
I'm not saying I don't admire his work - I'm just not a die-hard Steve fan, and my curiosity around the Hensons' comments is not really linked to how I feel about losing his talent one way or another.
It's more the fact that they said anything, rather than whether it's based on truth or not.
I don't think anyone's doing that really, Steve's fans are defending him as if they are... well, fans.
I'm not particularly a fan of Steve's - in fact I'm far more a fan of Matt Vogel. I'm just curious as to the role of the Hensons in this. Yes, Steve was the one that came out and said he'd...
A discussion only becomes a heated debate as a result of how it's said, not what is said. It's perfectly reasonable to question the motives of the Hensons for getting so involved. It's also interesting to consider how Disney felt the need to consult them on this decision when they have not...
Does anyone else think Matt's Kermit so far sounds like Richard Hunt doing an impression of Jim's Kermit? I keep hearing traces of Scooter. He could do with sounding a bit more rubbery but so far I think he's done pretty well. He's certainly been thrown in at the deep end doing a huge live...
I want to say something but am scared of getting some sort of backlash.
Basically, the impression I've always had of the Jim Henson days was that they were all into stuff like marijuana and it was a very VERY easy going work environment. Hope that makes sense.... Just MY opinion, not stating...
Just a thought... as they've recast Kermit, perhaps they're planning a major relaunch of their Muppets activity. They wouldn't recast unless they were planning something surely.
