I usually put some hot glue on the top part of the back of the finished eye...and then press it into the fur. While applying reverse pressure from the inside of the puppet's head. I then do the bottom of the eye the same way. I added a pic of the finished result. Note. His eyelashes should be...

Peter. Thanks again. When you gave me your measurements...did you measure only the white of the eye? Or did you include the purple eyelid? I got my eyes back from the 3D printer. They seem very bulgy.

There is a local shop near me, (very low tech no email or website) that has hundreds of giant rolls of Mongolian furs. When I walk through their shop I think to myself, "fozzie, Grover, cookie, Oscar". It's great. I'd be happy to pick something up for you and ship.
