I might make my own tutorial on how to cover it with fleece, because it is a very difficult shape to work with between the mouth and the size
Ok, so I just went through the same "roadblock" that you're going through right now, and hopefully I have some insight.
Your saving grace is the swazzle "Puppet101" blog (I don't have the link offhand, but a quick google search could help you out). Under the Ratchet tutorial, you will find a...
I was digging through the forum archives looking for inspiration when I found this neato tutorial to make a rod puppet out of a tennisball. Over the weekend I found myself at a sports store, so I went ahead and bought a tennisball and proceeded to make the head.
here is what I have so far...
yea all my friends are in love with these puppets so they all ask me to make one for them. Little do they know how many hours are spent... just dying that fleece! Anyway, I think the practice rounds are over so no more favors :p
thanks for your complements!
so my friend asked me to make them a puppet for their new niece that was just born (word around school has spread that I'm making these guys)
but I think this is going to be my last work for free. So in the interest of of entrepeneurish high schooler, how much would this guy fetch on ebay...
My brother taught me how to make this guy when I was like 7 years old, anyway, I had some origami paper and somehow I remembered.
His mouth springs open because of the papers resistance.

thanks bezalel! I think your patterns are amazing - not because of the flexibility and creativity, but to the actual insight of how puppets are made. It's not an obvious or even "guessable" science, but your patterns are really great for learning how many professional puppets could be...
wow thanks for the compliments!
No - I haven't named him. I work on him during drama class and play practice (when it's not my scenes) and the german exchange student who is in the play has taken a particular liking to him and calls him gonzo. (I don't really think he looks like gonzo, but...
So I got the glorified sock puppet pattern a little while ago but never did anything with it, but the other day I decided to give it a try... instead of physics homework.

did anyone catch a television commercial that had something along the lines of "Youtube sweepstakes" in it? I wasn't paying close attention to it so I'm not sure what it is but it could be a connection, explaining all these loose ends.
Call me crazy, but you appear to be putting the same basic thing on ebay many, many times.
Part of the appeal of professional puppets is that there is none other like the one you have purchased and (hopefully) there won't be one.
Now you're decreasing the value of the work and the patrons...
you could always try and make your own based on the rotondo pattern at project puppet. From there, I'm sure the more experienced builders on this forum would be more comfortable giving you pointers, rather than the whole thing.
