I know there's a 2012 movie coming out this summer I believe by the same director who did "The Day After Tommorrow", which looks the same.

There was a lot of hoopla/fears/worries when 2000 came around.

But I doubt anything major will happen in 2012.

This was already covered here. Case closed (and so does this thread, I hope).

Yeah, I come here to escape beliefnet, which is just awash in this nonsense. The extremely bothersome thing is that it seemed to spread. From the posters I've talked to there, there is apparently some cult that has been saying "The End" since 1994. The more common date is 2011 (I guess my fanfic was right and Mizumi will try to take over the world in 2011 ). I only started seeing 2012 when the previews for the movie showed up.

Awww... come on now... we'll all get blown up in WW 3, or starve to death in the second Great Depression long before that. We have nothing to worry about. :coy:

I don't think mankind will make beyond the 23rd century. By then, if people are still around, it will be over 20 billion people, polution everywhere, diseases, etc. etc.

But I wonder if anyone thought about this way 100 years ago or even 500 years ago?

Well you know what? I have a book reference
Science is Golden, HarperCollins Publishers Pty Ltd, Australia 2008 ISBN 0-7332-8536-4. Author Dr Karl Kruzelnicki, pages 17-31. If this is all about the Mayan calendar, shouldn't it do what the gregorian calendar does and just roll over on to a new calendar and keep going? And what about when the world's population got to 6.66 Billion? Nothing. 6-6-06? Nothing. Y2K? Nothing. And the last time there was all that meteor stuff nothing happened, and the planets where ment to line up in 05 but nothing happened. There you go, There is a book that proves it wrong, a book written by an established man of science. Case and thread closed.:attitude:
