I just heard that this Thursday, Allan Melvin passed away from cancer at the age of 84. You might've seen Allan from his roles as Cpl. Henshaw from The Phil Silvers Show, Barney from All in the Family, and Sam the Butcher from the Brady Bunch. Allan was also famous for doing a lot of voicework. His most famous voice was Magilla Gorilla and he performed the lovable gorilla for many years. He will be missed.

Well, I guess so since there's that first/last Beetle Bailey film on both volumes of Old School Sesame Street.

Well, I guess so since there's that first/last Beetle Bailey film on both volumes of Old School Sesame Street.

Yes, King Features made Beetle Bailey into a series of 6 or 7 minute cartoon series back in the 60's. Howard Morris performed Beetle while Allan Melvin performed Sarge.

And it seemed like Allan and Howard worked together quite a lot. in Magilla Gorilla, Allan voiced Magilla while Howard voiced Mr. Peebles. Allan voiced Pumpkin Puss while Howard voiced Mush Mouse. And in Waldo Kitty, Howard voiced Waldo while Allan voiced Tyrone the Bulldog. Those two talented voicemen will be missed.

Lol, that's cool! Now whenever I read a Beetle Bailey comic strip, I'll have to imagine Beetle sounding like Ernest T. Bass (or maybe Flem from Cow and Chicken since Howard Morris did his voice too).
