An SST tribute from the 2004 Daytime Emmy awards...

Maybe nothing as grand as you may think - the Daytime Emmys as a major award show is becoming endangered. As soaps (which are the big showcase of the Daytime Emmys) are dying as a genre - hit by huge budget cuts with many stars/legends finding their jobs aren't that safe these days and several of the (less than?) 10 remaining network soaps' futures in question...not to mention growing controversy about nominations/voting procedures, none of the major networks showed interest in broadcasting them this year - and for awhile it was uncertain if it would end up being a small cable affair or even just a more private ceremony - the news on this is going through varioos ups and downs on a daily/weekly basis but latest word seems to be that there will be a telecast - maybe even still on network station but that it will be a much smaller less extravagent affair.

Depending on how things go, that could be good or bad news. They may not go with any kind of tribute or maybe in an effort to make the Daytime Emmys more relevant by focusing less on soaps and more on children, talk, and news shows - the emphasis on things like SST's 40th may end up being greater.
