I seem to remember Mahna Mahna singing another silly song on Sesame Street. I don't remember if the Snowths were with him. or if there were cows. I don't remember much about the song other than that the Snowths (or cows) were singing like the Andrews Sisters. It was something like..

you just can't go wrong with this pretty ditty one two cheer.
(Mahna mahna sings something)

and an itchy ear
(Mahna mahna sings "scritch scratch scritch")

every time I hear
(yeah yeah)

Anyone remember this at all? I'll betcha you do!

this one?

Scratch My Back
sung by Jack, Jill and Mahna Mahna

Mahna Mahna: I know a couple, name of Jack and Jill.
They love each other and they always will.
'Cause when Jill gets an itch in the middle of her back,
All she does is turn to Jack.
And she says:

Jill: Scratch my back!
Oh, baby, won't you scratch my back?
Really nothing to it!
Love it when you do it!
Baby, won't you scratch my back?

Mahna Mahna: When Jack feels itchy, they just make a switch.
He turns to Jill and says:

Jack: I've got an itch!
Come on, Jilly, won't you be a peach
And scratch the itch that I can't reach?
And you can scratch my back!
Oh, honey, won't you scratch my back?
Really nothing to it!
Love it when you do it!
Honey, won't you scratch my back?

Mahna Mahna: They'll be so happy 'til the end of time,
Sayin':

Jill: I'll scratch your back if you'll scratch mine!

Jack: We're lovey-dovey as a couple can be,
'Cause I got you and you got me!

Jill: And you can scratch my back!

Jack: And, honey, you can scratch my back!

Jill: Really nothing to it!

Jack: Love it when you do it!

Jill: Baby, won't you scratch my back?

Jack: Honey, won't you scratch my back?

Jack and Jill: Love it when you scratch my back!

(During the song, Jack and Jill take turns scratching each other. But at the song's end, we see Mahna Mahna between them, scratching both backs at once!)

Oh yeah!! I remember that song! Unfortunately that's not the song I'm thinking of. I'm positive of it. This one most definitely had either the Snowths or two cows and the lyrics I posted are definitely the ones in the song. I think the cows or Snowths sing:

When your hearts a drum

Mahnah Mahnah A boom boom boom

or something like that. It's a silly song.

It's called "Everybody's Song". It was sung by three girl pigs in wigs with a Mahna Mahna resembling character called Bip Bippadotta. They had a lot of characters on SS who looked and sounded like Mahna Mahna, Bip being one. The song was on one of the SS albums, it's probably listed on the main site; it was an album built around body parts or health or something like that.

While Mahna remained the same look on TMS, Bip Bipadotta (the name he was always referred to on SS) changed looks practically each time he was shown, namely by the shades he wore, or didn't wear and we saw his eye balls. Karen Falk said that the differences between the names was that Jim Henson wanted the commercial Muppets to be different than the educational SS characters; however, there never was a reasoning why, on SS, his looks varied so much. Could be that Bip just never really had a general puppet and they rebuilt him each time. Strangely, to me, it seems that Jim would have noticed the differences and said something.

Funny, I just found out that "mahnen" means "to bleat" (like a sheep) in German!

But, in English, "Mah Na Mah Na" translates into "do doo do doo do."
