SPECIAL GUEST STAR: SHERYL CROW

OPENING THEME

OPENING NUMBER: Clifford and a group of Muppets sing "Hot Hot Hot".

STATLER & WALDORF:

WALDORF: (singing "Hot Hot Hot") "Ole, ole, ole, ole..."
(Grover suddenly appears with sombrero and tray)
GROVER: THAT is not how you do it...(dances around) OLEOLEOLEOLEOLEOLEOLEOLEOLEOLEOLEOLE...*CRASH!* (drops his tray, loaded with a bowl of guacamole, on Waldorf's head, Waldorf and Statler look at him in disgust)

BACKSTAGE: Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker break out the newest Muppet Labs invention for Sheryl Crow's number: a solar simulator, designed to make every day feel like summer, which Beaker hooks up to the heater. However, a fuse blows in the simulator and messes the heater up...so it is now one hundred degrees inside the theatre.

GUEST STAR: Sheryl Crow sings "Soak Up The Sun" on a beach set with various surfing Muppets.

WALDORF: You know, Sheryl Crow is pretty hot...
STATLER: It's just the rest of the Muppets that aren't!
BOTH: DOOOHHHH, HO HO HO...

BACKSTAGE: Miss Piggy takes advantage of the broken heater to show off her new bikini to Kermit. The result: Kermit trying frantically to fix the heater so she'll put it back on.

MISS PIGGY: WELL, FIX THIS, BUSTER! *karate chops Kermit* HIIIIII--YAAAAAAA!!!!

VETERINARIAN'S HOSPITAL: Dr. Bob, Nurse Piggy, and Nurse Janice operate on an Anything Muppet surfer (with a severe case of sunburn).

SONG: "Too Darn Hot", sung by Floyd, Janice, Animal, and various Muppets hanging out in the canteen. It starts out with a bunch of hot, sweaty Muppets. Suddenly Animal starts tapping out a rhythm on a table top and soon Floyd starts singing, then the rest of the crew joins in.

UK SPOT: Andy and Randy Pig sing "By Jeeves". (If you listen to the words of this song, it's quite appropriate for them.)

BACKSTAGE: Rizzo and the rats beat the heat by singing "Surfin' Safari" while trying to surf in a toilet, the "surf" provided by Beauregard constantly flushing it. Chester Rat gets stuck in the toilet and causes a tidal wave when he gets pulled out.

CLOSING NUMBER: Sheryl Crow sings "All I Wanna Do" with the Muppets on a beach boardwalk setting. They're all refreshed after the rats' tidal wave has cooled them off.

CLOSING CREDITS/THEME

STATLER & WALDORF:

WALDORF: Would you say you had a little fun before you died?
STATLER: I can't speak for myself, but the Muppets did before they died...on stage!
BOTH: DOOOHHHH, HO HO HO...

I've been getting a big kick out of your episode ideas! The Grover bit is priceless, as is the image of the rats surfing in, ah, the flush. Hehe.

One little suggestion-

Seeing as the whole episode has a heat theme, and seeing as the theater isn't overheated until after the opening number, you might want an opening number that does not follow this theme. Not only does it make more sense with the layout of the plot as you have it, but it also provides some contrast. Think of the Glenda Jackson episode, pirate-themed all the way, but only AFTER the pirate bit had been established; the episode opens with Gonzo singing the Jim Croce song "Workin' at the Car Wash Blues". Just a thought.
