Anyone know how to make a button?

Hi, I need a button without background... I have one now, but the back ground is white. Is there anyone who can make it transparant. So when i upload it to my site, it doesn´t show the background?
I want it to have a picture popup when u go over it with your mouse!
Or isn´t this posible to make?
