It's just been announced that Disney has bought the distribution rights to The Muppets Take Manhattan, Muppets from Space, and Kermit's Swamp Years, meaning that Disney now owns the distribution rights to all of the Muppet movies except for It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie.

According to somebody at Disney, "we plan to put out brand-new DVD and Blu-ray releases of The Muppets Take Manhattan and Muppets from Space on DVD and Blu-ray in time for Christmas." According to somebody else at Disney, "bonus features on The Muppets Take Manhattan DVD will include the teaser trailer, the original official trailer, deleted scenes, and we've also got Frank Oz and the gang to agree to do a commentary track. The Blu-ray will include more. Additionally, Muppets from Space will include all extras from the previous DVD release, and some other stuff that should have been on the first release." Says another person at Disney, "in addition to new releases of The Muppets Take Manhattan and Muppets from Space, Kermit's Swamp Years will join such beloved past productions as A Muppet Family Christmas, The Muppets Go to the Movies, and seasons four and five of The Muppet Show as among those Muppet productions we own but won't be releasing anytime soon." According to somebody else at Disney, "we also plan to put out an 8-disc box set of all of the theatrical Muppet movies." And according to another person at Disney, "since we bought the rights and will put these on DVD, we will make more money than we would have if we didn't put out more DVD releases this year."

And according to our prime source, APRIL FOOLS!
