The youngest daughter on the show now does adult movies ( Porn)
Yeah... the daughter that mysteriously disappeared after the first season. I forget her name, but her mother wanted the producers to give her more money, so they wound up firing the little girl, and she fell into the seedy pornography industry to make ends meet. It's sad, but somehow strangely funny.... sorry about that.

Yeah, people listed cartoons, too, when I thought we were being asked about sitcoms, but oh well. lol.
I saw other people had listed "The Flintstones" and I always loved that show and thought it was extremely creative and funny, so I included it in my honorable mentions. But I almost didn't since it is a cartoon. But then I thought, "Well, it DID show on primetime back in the 60's originally, and it was a half hour long, and it was very funny and had a laugh track like other 60's shows [eg. "Bewithced", "Green Acres"], so, why not."

Perfect strangers.....I watched that show on ABC. Family Matters was a spin off of that show.

Speaking of ABC, anybody remember TGIF on friday nights?
"Perfect Stangers" was indeed a funny show. Both Larry Appleton and cuzzin Balki were a good team. The bowling episode was one of my favorites.
I remember TGIF real well. In the late 80's/early 90's I had a job where I could watch tv ( or play chess, read, talk on the phone, eat, etc.) while at work during the slow times, which was usually 8-10pm (OH to have THAT job back again! The downside, though, was that it paid minimum wage!). So I regularly got to see that show as well as "Full House" and "Family Matters" while at work. Those were the days! (Oops, that's from 1970's "All in the Family"!)

The Cosby Show
The Dick Van Dyke Show
The Mary Tyler Moore Show

Those are the greats. Sillier favorites of mine include Full House, Home Improvement, and I Love Lucy

Seeing "The Cosby Show" listed in this last post, I thought of "The Bill Cosby Show" from 1969-1971. I loved that show! But probably not too many here have seen it. The enormously popular one from the 80's I thought was an okay show but I didn't love it. Bill was too intelligent as Dr. Huxtable. But in "The Bill Cosby Show" he was more inept (as he was in "The Electric Company" segments and was usually back then) and I thought he was at his best like that. Plus the shows and plots were pretty funny with good lines. And Bill's singing and sound effects during the opening and closing credits were a riot. And he has a great laugh during the opening theme song. You can listen to it here:

Boy there's a ton of other classic tv theme songs here too. Check out "Love, American Style." I used to love this early 70's theme song as a little one (Though the adult subject matter of the sitcom itself went over my head!).
I also always loved the "Tattletales" and "Match Game" theme music.

The Perfect Strangers theme song was oustanding. "It my life. Its my dream. Nothings gonna stop me now." God I lived for that show

"The Cosby Show"(until Olivia showed up  )
"The Brady Bunch"
"The Nanny"(yeah...I know..you all are like ,"EWWW!!!With her voice?"
But the show is genuinely funny! Especially when Nikes the butler & CC Babcock, Maxwell Sheffield's associate are constantly ragging on each other! )

i'm not gonna make a list, because it would be too long, I'm a TV-aholic, I like so many shows, but I noticed no one so far has mentioned Mama's Family, that was a great show.

OK my best sitcoms seem to differ slightly in style so here goes in no particular order:

The Office,
The League of Gentlemen,
Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps,
Scrubs,
Catterick,

That's all I can think of at the moment as far as sitcoms go.
