Looking at the segment notes for a Season 2 episode of SS, I took particular notice of the last one listed:
"Maria (Carla Pinza) sings a song using English and Spanish words."

So, was Pinza originally cast in the role of "Maria" before Sonia? Or is this supposed to be a different Maria?

For the record, there are mentions of Carla appearing on Sesame elsewhere.

It's worth noting that Sonia Manzano was added to the cast list on the Wikia's Season 2 page by me, as mentions of Maria debuting later in the season were mentioned elsewhere (ditto for Northern Calloway and Larry Block). However, that doesn't necessarily confirm that she had any involvement at the time.

Maria is a very common name.

Still though, it would be a little odd and potentially confusing to have two characters with the same name debut in the exact same year.

This is super interesting btw, Mo. I never noticed this before.

Well, they had a child actor named David around the same time Northern Calloway's David was around.

Maybe like Garrett Saunders' Gordon, Carla didn't pan out. During the first few seasons (I might have been a toddler, but I saw people come and go) there were a number of Hispanic faces that didn't stay (Jaime Sanchez as Miguel, Raul Julia as Raphael) before Sonia and Emilio settled in permanently.

Because Maria and Luis were on the street for so long, and other actors' stays were so brief, it's easy to think after the initial cast of Bob, Mr. Hooper, and Susan and Gordon, David, Maria and Luis were it. Unless you were there, or until Noggin ran the Unpaved episodes, you wouldn't remember those that fell through the cracks.

Same applies to Larry Block as Tom, and Charlotte Rae as Molly.

Yeah, nobody has, apparently. I don't know how that's possible. Surely, whoever added that information to the article must have noticed. I'm trying to ask around the Toughpigs boards, but have gotten no responses yet. I'll try to Wikia next. Surprised this topic hasn't been started over there.

Maybe you could ask Sonia Manzano on Twitter or Facebook. I mean, sure she's never mentioned anything about this before, so she might not even be aware of it, but it's worth a shot.

There are a lot of characters that we don't have much info on, and there are a lot that have only recently been re discovered. For instance in season 20, Linda had an assistant at the library named Tikko:
http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Tiko

i'd never even heard of him until those classic episodes started leaking last year. We don't even know if he appeared in more than one episode.

And this girl appears to have been a recurring character during season 15 or 16, but once again, we only know about one episode that she was in:

It kinda makes you think, what other human characters are there that we don't know about yet?

You mean this girl?

I seem to recall a clip of an older Asian-American guy that would occasionally fill in for Mr. Hooper at the store. Can't remember his name.

Oops, sorry about that, I put the wrong clip up :embarrassed:. But, yeah, that's the one.
