thanks for posting that, i hope henson provides some top notch photo's as well, you would think that they would.

hmmm, they could have gone into a little more detail, they didn't mention Rowlf or Beau as someone did see them in NY. plus there maybe and should be a few more muppets as well, oh and the chicken name is camilla, as they just mentioned chicken,i wish henson would use her nowadays. i wonder if the rat was rizzo or not?

Look! Here's the article:

IT’S A VERY GREEN CHRISTMAS AS KERMIT AND THE MUPPETS TAKE MANHATTAN IN MACY'S HOLIDAY WINDOWS

New York, NY – November, 2002 – Holiday shoppers will be seeing more green this Christmas as Macy's Herald Square’s famous Broadway windows will present America’s favorite frog, Kermit, in fun holiday scenes. To herald in the holiday season, Kermit and The Muppets gang will take in the sights and sounds of Manhattan from ice-skating in Rockefeller Center to a carriage ride in Central Park. Debuting on Friday, November 22nd at 4:30 pm in a spectacular window-unveiling with non-other than Kermit the Frog as emcee and the Santaland Express holiday train choo-chooing down 34th Street, Macy's will once again spread holiday cheer with its magical animated window displays for all to enjoy. The windows will be on view until January 5th.

“Every year we look to find a fun way to celebrate the holidays that will strike a sentimental chord with shoppers, and the young and old alike. This year we are taking the colorful cast of The Muppets and having them visit New York City during the holidays – going to the same places that tourists visit such as the Statue of Liberty and Times Square as well as places that New Yorkers call home,” states Sam Joseph, vice president/creative design for Macy's Herald Square.

Thanks to Macy's fast and furious staff of 20 workers who work during the night into the morning hours, the Broadway windows are transformed into magical vignettes complete with animated figurines, set design pieces, costumes and lighting. It takes months of research to make sure that every last detail is correct from the glimmer in Miss Piggy’s eye when she looks at Kermit to Kermit’s spindly legs. First sketches are rendered and then scale models are created to help visualize the various scenarios. No detail is spared to make sure that the windows capture the spirit of the season and each character’s unique persona.

Window 1 – The Carriage Ride
It’s a mid winter’s night’s dream as a snow-covered Central Park sets the scene for Kermit and Miss Piggy’s carriage ride. With Manhattan’s cityscape behind them, Miss Piggy and Kermit nuzzle for a romantic ride through the park. Kermit pulls on the reins that guides a galloping horse down the park’s path.

Window 2 – Rockefeller Center
It’s more of The Muppets gang in window two as Gonzo speed skates in Rockefeller Center’s world-famous skating rink. Always in good company, Gonzo skates with Chicken and a rat as three penguins raise Olympic score cards with skating times. Filling the window are Christmas trees decorated with lights as the Rockefeller Center fountain cascades behind.

Window 3 – Broadway Dance Hall
Miss Piggy takes center stage in the next window as the inside of a Broadway theater is recreated. Kicking her heels up high, Miss Piggy keeps perfect time with a chorus line as the audience filled with Muppets including the Swedish Chef, and Statler and Waldorf from their view from the balcony, enjoy the show as the orchestra plays on.

Window 4 – Statue of Liberty
The Manhattan skyline sets the backdrop for the majestic Miss Liberty. Atop her crown are Kermit, Fozzie, Pepe, Beaker and Sam the Eagle who are getting a bird’s eye view of the world’s greatest city.

Window 5 – Times Square
It’s the biggest party in town as Kermit, Animal, Gonzo and the rest of The Muppet gang help ring in the New Year in Times Square. As the glistening New Year’s ball begins to drop at the stroke of twelve, The Muppets seem to be having a ball as 2003 draws near.

Window 6 – Santa’s Sleigh
Santa Claus is coming to town! And who better to help him find his way to Herald Square than Kermit and Miss Piggy of course! With Santa’s reindeer guiding the way, Santa’s sleigh is sure to be on course for the day as it pulls into Herald Square at the end of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Paradeä to herald in the holiday season.

With Kermit waving and Miss Piggy blowing kisses, this holiday season is sure to be a smash hit.

It's interesting that there's no mention of the Kermit-and-Piggy-watching-TV window that some here have claimed to have seen. Is it a myth? Since no pictures of the windows appear to be forthcoming, I guess we'll never know.

Unfortuantely, in Boston we have no such displays.. We do however have windows with the Kermit the Frog-o-tog-opher in it. The next display is apparently either a Work in progress or a no-show. They just have cru,mmy little curtains andd cardboard Christmas wreaths that say "It's Begining to look a lot like Christmas.." Blah decorations.

I wish I could see these pics.
