Okay everyone I have some inportent to tell!

You know some of us are good at writing (Even me!) and there are others are good at writing scrips.

So do any of you know how to write a scrip?

Just type in yes or no and tell us why!
  2. Oscarfan Well-Known Member

Yes, because I'm in a video class, ergo I should be able to write scripts for them.

I like to write them, but I've learned that I tend to add way more direction than is wanted, at least according to the various "how to write a script" stuff on the internet. I can't STAND just writing dialogue. I want my reader to SEE the movie/show in their minds as I would've done it, because that's the point of me writing it and not someone else, LOL. :D

That's much like what movie scripts looked like in the silent film days actually!

What can I say, I'm old school, LOL. :D

Wow you guys know your stuff, to tell you truth is I don't know how to write a script.

Scripts Vary from Person to person, production to production...ive worked on a few projects where different directors perfer different types of scripts
  8. Collgoff Well-Known Member

Really? The perationles can really make it so simple!

i wish i had some screen shot scan to show but yea...biggest change and in differences ive seen are between TV ,movies ,commercials, and music videos

... I guess I could. I was in the drama club in high school and took some acting classes, so I have a good idea of how they are supposed to look. They're too "simple" for me, though. I like to be descriptive!

I can. I've taken a screenplay writing class and I'm a creative writing major, so I like to think the number of screenplays I've written/am working on (and there are quite a lot) are pretty decent. Not perfect, but decent.

Where is that screenplay writing class?
It would be nice to learn how to write a script!

I took it at my college, so unless you happen to be attending SOU or in the Ashland area, I'd suggest looking for a class somewhere in your own region. :jim:

One thing to keep in mind: USUALLY (not in every single case, but usually), one page equals one minute's worth of show/movie/whatever it is you're working on... I can attest to the frustration of writing half-hour scripts, because half-hour shows, sans commercials, are getting shorter and shorter, which means you have less time to cram as much content in, while at the same time, making sure it all flows smoothly and makes sense: half-hour shows without commercials used to be 21-22 minutes... writing so much in that little amount of time is hard enough, but now half-hour shows are being shortened to like 18 1/2 minutes, which is pretty much impossible.

Also, when you're writing scripts, you're generally suggested to use a Courier font at a size 12.

    I can write a script.
Script form is the only way I can write stories on paper and pencil.

Just wondering, is there like an official way to write scripts? Like with spacing and centering and stuff?
  18. miss kermie Well-Known Member

I think the text has to be alligned to the left and double spaced.

Yep, I can write scripts. I used to work for a puppet company called Peppercorn Productions & we did shows & promo spots for TNN (The Nashville Network). I wrote some of the sketches we did on various shows.

I usta could. But it's been a while since I've written anything in general. So I'm kinda rusty.
