Move out on your own and take responsibility for your life.

I second beatnikchick's comment, in this day and age, and in this trouble economy, you're pretty much better off still living at home, even if it does, "Cramp your style", or "Bruise your ego", or rob you of your freedom. Unless you're doing really, really well, or even filthy rich, the best you can possibly do in terms of moving out on your own is probably living in a cracker box apartment or condo in the ghetto. Either that, or move in with a friend out of convenience.

Moving out might be hard, but not impossible. I moved out when I was 19 to get away from my alcoholic father. It meant busting my butt to live on my own, living on a shoestring budget for a while, but for the freedom and peace of mind, it was worth it.

If you can't have a peaceful co-existence at home, you're better off on your own, or finding a couple friends to move in. Like I said, might be a challenge, but not impossible.

We're not saying it's impossible, we're just saying it's rough especially in this day and age when it's difficult to make a buck to be able to afford to.

Is it possible for you to stop giving your father money for silly things like furniture and gambling? I know it can be hard to say no to your parents, but you shouldn't have to support your dad's gambling habit. Maybe if you ask another family member or someone outside of the family that's close to your dad to help you express your feelings to him, it will aid the situation.
