We are all worried about you D.W. I am so happy that I purchased those four records from you. I know you are scared and that everything seems worse than before. But I want you to know that I prayed for you this afternoon. It just happened out of nowhere because I know that you are struggling.

If I can give you some help, you might have to take the first job that comes along and stay with that until you find something. But please do not even think about doing things that are worse. Just give yourself some time and don't stop. If you can't find abyone on here for some things, find some friends or relatives who can help you out as well. Just remember who you are and keep a positive outlook. If you keep pushing further and further, you will make out okay. And little by little, things will be better.

If you want, we can try out put out a repsonse to other Muppet websites like Toughpigs and The Muppet Mindset. Ask those guys if they can post a notice about you selling your collection and hopefully you will get more contacts.

But for right now D.W., just keep going forward and don't give up. We all enjoy seeing you on the forum and pray that things will get better for you. God bless and don't hold back.

Zns, i appreciate that. I tend to tear up at the drop of a hat lately so the waterworks reading that was the latest out of a regularly running fountain. I know some people are aware of my aetheism but by the same token, i don't ever discourage anyone from following their own paths or beliefs and it's always touching when someone else prays for me (and maybe having it come from someone else might actually make a difference)

I think i may have mentioned in private email that i don't have much of either in real life; most friends i've had have long gone sperate ways and there's not much people i'm close to and i've been disowned by most of my family for being gay (in 2002, my psychotic brother-in-law's idea of the perfect Mother's Day gift for my sister was to throw the ****** out of the house and free up that bedroom for an exercise room! Any holiday meals that come from my family always have to be carefully checked to see that it wasn't tampered with!)

Wish i could take your advice about not doing things that are worse but when there are bills that have to be met no matter what and no other way to meet them, sometimes one has to do things he would not have ever otherwise done. I've already had to resort to that once and although i hope i never have to do so again, i'm guessing the first time is always the worst so at least that's behind me.

I certainly hope that none of this offended you though. I just wanted to help. Just let me know when you can ship the records then and when you have found something to keep you busy.

Sorry Zns, i wish i had some good news to report to everyone. I can't. Again, things are getting worse instead of better and i've got some very scary deadlines looming.

I can't watch the other seasons without season 3 of Farscape (my Mom wants to see the eps in order, LOL) ... sooo ... if you still have it, compensation will arrive in your mailbox shortly. It was mailed as of today.

Hi there - I have been searching for Statler and Waldorf Series 6 figures - I am a painter and I've been doing a series of still lifes of muppet figures and would love to do them.. So it doesn't matter if they are in the packages. Are they still available? And how much are you asking? I can't afford those ebay prices, haha! Thanks -
  12. dwmckim

    dwmckim Well-Known Member

Slugwork - i'll be sending you a private message, but yes S&W are both still available. Like everything else, these are sold "silent auction" style, so if you want them, PM me or email me at dw_m@webtv.net with an offer and if no one makes a higher offer within 24 hours and as long as it's not too low, it's yours. Hopefully you'll share your paintings you've done so far with everyone here - they sound exciting and i know we'd all love to see them.

To all - i'll soon do another list update reflecting what's been sold and what's still available soon. Thanks to everyone who's helped - i still don't have any other regular income right now and still need LOTS of help but i would NOT have been able to survive/get by so far without the help of people here so thanks so much.

I had car problems last week - thankfully all that had to be done was replace the battery which was under warranty. Unfortunately it ate up lots of my time last week that could have been spent taking care of other job-search/etc stuff. Plus i have a feeling this is going to end up being a temporary fix and something larger will end up being wrong - there's a number of stuff wrong with my car i haven't been able to afford to fix for awhile and it's only a matter of time before it breaks down to the point of not being useable.

The good news (though i don't like using that term until i actually hear that it's led to something - otherwise it's just one of several applications/inquiries that end up not ultimately going anywhere) is that Amazon is doing a huge hiring push locally and i applied yesterday through their staffing service. It would be a temp-to-hire position and even though it's a little bit of a drive (or long bus ride if i lose the car!), it would really help so much if i got it so everyone please keep your fingers crossed for me. Even if i do get accepted i still may not know for several weeks depending on how long the background check process takes. (I had a nightmare last night that i got turned down - it was one of those "super-realistic" kinds of nightmares that start out with yourself asleep and waking up and seeming like it's your actual morning!)

When I first moved to TX, it was 2 weeks before Katrina. It seemed like background checks took FOREVER because Mississippi's records were unavailable due to apparently the entire state not having computer access just because it's raining on the coast ....

At any rate, I'm pulling for ya. *waves a little happy face flag*

Good luck to you D.W. We're all rooting for you. Can I still email you if necessary? I certainly hope I haven't taken up too much of your time. Good luck and take care. ;)

Okay - i have good and bad news. I did get hired by Amazon. But i don't start for two more weeks - which means no paycheck until the end of the third week of November. So i'm still not out of the financial woods yet. ***Rent is coming up and still can't pay it plus the various bills i'll need to pay for the first half of November*** NEED TO SELL STUFF FAST! Since we're entering November, many of these may not only be nice things for yourself but perhaps a holiday gift for other Muppet fans you know!

    - a personally autographed photo of Farscape's Virginia Hay (Zhaan)

    - Jim Henson's Fantastic World exhibit program
    - Jim Henson's Fantastic World Mesa AZ oversized-postcard-style flyer personally autographed by Fran Brill (and Zoe), Dave Goelz (and Gonzo), and Karen Falk

    - Letter from Jeff Marx and Bobby Lopez (before they were famous via Avenue Q) dated 7-15-99 describing their unsuccessful attempts to sell their script for Kermit, Prince of Denmark and asking for my critique/feedback. Second page is an outline of KPoD story and song list. Autographed (i.e. signed by) Jeff Marx

    - The "cream of the crop" of my collection is a sheet of Muppet stationary (unofficial fan art border by Chris Smigliano) chockful of autographs from a whole slew of Muppeteers and crew members from the set of Muppets From Space (including Brian Henson and Frank Oz). This was given to me as a special gift so due to both the inherent value and the sentimental value, i will only sell it for a high price. (Yes, i'm that desperate to get rid of the #1 thing i never thought i'd sell if the asking price is right!)

Jobless Again - Christmas Ruined - Very Hopeless Right Now!

The Amazon job turned out to be a mixed blessing in lots of ways. It was very physically demanding and my entire body was in lots of pain the first couple of weeks with constant hardship on the feet in particular (even w/ Dr Scholls) and also reignited my bad back problems. The shifts were long (10-12 hrs) but worst of all, they always made it seem like you'd work lots of overtime, get lots of hours and get lots of extra pay but most of the time they closed early and/or cancelled overtime shifts meaning i never even worked 40 hrs except for my very first week and last week when i finally got over 50 hrs.

I thought this would also be an over 50 hr week but they laid off all the temps on Wednesday so not only was that an under-30 hr paycheck but also my last paycheck and i'm now back to not having any income and nothing but a messed up back, feet, ruined Christmas and severe depression to show for it.

They really exploited us very badly - they constantly dangled the carrot of transitioning to a permantent hire in front of us and i was so sure i would make it to that point as i demonstrated a very strong work ethic and desire to continue and many of my co-workers noticed but they basically just did that so we'd work hard and i now doubt they ever really planned on retaining anyone since i don't know of anyone they did keep.

Christmas/New Year's in totally ruined for me as i have no hope, nothing to look forward to or feel festive/thankful about, no holiday cheer and i can't even bear to listen to Annie Lennox's Christmas album or watch/listen to any Muppet Christms stuff (and THAT is a very bad sign!) I've spent most of the last two days is bed partly due to a very devastating depression and partly trying to let my body rest and heal itself (the back pain is now finally gone). I'm at the point where i've really just had it with practically everything and i've been so tempted to just take a bottle of sleeping pills, go to bed and never wake up again - however i've already done that when i was 17 and obviously that didn't work! Everything inside me is just numb, hopeless, worn out and shattered. Two weeks ago, i was seriously planning on revising Muppet Freak on Christmas. Now not only will that not be happening but i don't have any kind of hope for the future or much to hold onto - i just have had it with everything.

So - for those of you who did have a happy holiday and got some extra money via job bonuses or gifts and are looking for some post-holiday presents to spend on yourself, please feel free to bleed me dry. I need it.

I, too, tried, twice, back in the day. Wasn't very good at it either, and with the luck you're having, you'd live through even having your head chopped off.

Can't do anything quite yet, but I'll keep you in mind. C'mon, you know Inspector Red(Piggy) is on the case. :)
