I agree. I am most looking forward to series 5. Janice, Pepe, the Newsman, Gonzo in tux, Vaudeville Statler and Waldorf, the Swedish Chef Repaint with Lobster Banditos, and the surprise exclusive.

There was talk of it being generally available in the Palisades website store. I guess they aren't sure yet.

My favorite wave is the wave that is about to be released, or the wave Ken has most recently shown in-production pics of, or the wave that has just been announced. Meaning-- they just keep getting better and I keep finding new things to be excited about. :)

Hate to say, but I think a lot would agree Series 3 looks to be the most boring. It's all about WAVE 5 baby! PEPE....w00t!!!

You mean series 4 right? Why would 3 be boring?J The series 4 selection (MTI Sam, Swinetrek characters and Rizzo) are not as strong as series 5 (Rowlf with a piano, Scooter with skateboard etc, Zoot with his sax and case and Lew with his bucket of fish) because no character really stands out as the star of the wave. They all seem secondary-like when comparing them with Scooter and Rowlf. I still think they should have split Gonzo and Fozzie into seperate waves to even things out. But series 5 and 6 will probably kick serious butt.

I'm super looking forward to series 3 too...series 4 I owuld say is the most boring by looking at the names, because I'v enever been a huge pig fan, but seeing the prototype figures, I'm excited anyway :p

just because I'm exited about series 5, make no mistake, I want series 3 like, NOW :p

Good point. If Gonzo were held off until series 3 and maybe moved Rowlf or LEw into series 2 that would have added more balance. I don't mind though. I'm sure series 3 will do fine just because of all the stuff you get with the figures. I mean Scooter with all that stuff is the same price as Kermit with a camera and cup  I think the more stuff the better the figures will sell, plus the sculpts look really cool. They just keep getting better. :D

I'm looking forward the most to wave 3 and 5. I would really like a Reg Rowlf but, Rowlf in a tux is great too, plus i think Lew Zeland is really neat to have out so soon in the line, that and crazt harry in 2. scooter will be great and you can't forget zoot, and the chef and kitchen.

I'm also big on five, don't forget camllia!

I can't wait to hear about the future line's, will we hear about who may be in the wave of seires 8 after series 3 come's out?
hope it's reg rowlf and or Sam as one of them.

I'm actually probably in the minority of likeing Wave 4 over 3 - Scooter is the only real star of that wave for me besides the Chef, and with the Kitchen looking fantastic we have to hope he doesn't suffer the Labs/Beaker problem. I've never liked the Lew Sculpt though and Tux figures don't interest me - i find them pointless although Rowlf is probably the more relevant character to be 'Tuxed' as he comes with the piano etc but i'm not so sure people will take to it like a regular and more recognisable Rowlf. Zoot isnt the most exciting character but it's a nice sculpt and people will be able to continue to collect the 'Mayhem' which is cool.

Wave 4 to me is all about really funky looking figures and packed and clever accessories, not just traditionalist Muppet characters. Rizzo is obviously the star here and both versions are excellent as are the stuff he comes with. Albeit less recognisable the P.I.S characters look brillant and very Muppety, almost a comic like look to them. I think they'll help to encourage people to get the Swinetrek when that comes out and also hopefully pull in a few non-collectors who just like the look of the figures. Again MTI Sam is a very good looking sculpt and has an interesting look so i think that'll help. It certainly wouldn't suprise me if MTI Sam was way more popular than Tuxedo Rowlf.

The one's that actually worry me to the point of being so weak they are dire is 6 & 7 - although i recognise the line-up is not set in stone yet. I don't think they should be doing Statler & Waldorf in the same wave because they are very similar characters and i think a wave should have more variety. Beau is a character only really remembered by traditional Muppet Show fans, and Clifford also i think is very weak - he'd be fine for an obscure character in a strong line but this 6 is probably too weak to have two versions of him. Muppets Tonight just wasnt a popular enough show and he's been underused to the point of near non-existance since then.

Seven is also looking terribly weak. Again it's mixing two partner characters and this time newer MTI ones - Johhny Fiama and Sal. By early 2004 we'll be seeing the new show hopefully and it's unlikely Brian Henson will do anything for it so Sal won't have any TV exposure. Also if certain people didn't like the whole 'Johhny Fiama and Sal' thing (i hated it) then thats two figures out of the wave they won't buy. Marvin Suggs and his Muppaphones is really obscure and not recognisable to people who didn't see much of the Muppet Show - yes it's a classic skit but i think it'd be better placed within a stronger line-up. I guess the character to be announced could be a really strong main one though - personally i think it might help to have Statler & Johnny in 6, and Waldorf and Sal in 7 rather than pairing them up.

Again, these were early line-up details so i'm not knocking anyone but just giving the opinion that compared to these ones we are seeing now, the later ones could be a lot weaker. Thats why i like the variations of the main characters - much more likely people will keep buying into the line and pick up the 1 or 2 obscures also included.

Why is it unlikely that Brain will be doing the new show? He was a pretty large part of the xmas special and also a pretty large part in Muppets Tonight. Is he not interested in working with the Muppets anymore?

I would totoally expect brian to be in the show, based on the fact that he just took on two NEW characters in Janice and Scooter...why go through all the trouble of learning them just for one movie??
  17. Luke

    Luke Well-Known Member

Brian did characters in the Xmas movie because he was executive producing it, he doesn't have much going with Henson right now and i really wouldn't expect to see him on Team Todd's set. It's remotely possible they could hire him in as a freelance puppeteer or advisor but it would be a wierd conflict to see the Muppets past producer on a set being directed by the new producers. I wouldn't expect to see all that much of people like Clifford or Johnny & Sal anyway in the new show - they'll probably knock out a lot of the Muppets Tonight characters to make way for the new ones, they didn't (besides Pepe) have big parts in the xmas movie even and that introduced hardly any new characters.

Well this isn't good :( We just got a great new scooter back in front. It would be a shame to make scooter go back into the background. Is this official that he won't be in the new show or is it just speculation? In fact, is the new show official or just speculation? Maybe I should ask this somewhere else.

Wanna know what my favorite wave will be? The one that ships on time and has ZERO production mistakes!

Oh totally...series 4 is when the line IMHO really takes off! Just hope it makes it that far(c'mon buying public, start buying the figures!)

Series 3....ehhh. But the one Im really wetting myself over is SERIES 5!

As for that later line, Travis might strongly disagree...but I think its a very bad decision to go with Suggs, Pops, and other generic

If I was internal at Palisades? My push would be for DIGIT!

There is no denying this would be one of the coolest sculpts Muppet figure wise...and weve all learned people care more about sculpt and cool wow factor than recognizability(hence why Dr Teeth sold wayyyyyyyy better than Piggy)
