You basically said what I told her, except I want to clarify one thing: describing an existing character as a perfect love interest is not a bad thing at all. Of course the two are going to see each other perfect in every way. It's just the nature of it all. Mary Sue-ing is more when you create a new character and make them so perfect in every way...for example, Hatchley could be on the block as a Mary Sue, and that is something to be careful about. But you basically can't fall into the Mary Sue trap with existing Muppets, as they already have flaws, unless you are taking a minor character and giving them a stronger personality.

So in other words: the only thing we really need to be careful about with Mary Sues in this story might be Hatchley, but the love interest thing is nothing to be concerned about, as it's only personal opinion of the characters.

Well Figgie I did have a feeling that this chapter feels kinda of familiar.
  4. bouncingbabyfig Well-Known Member

How so? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Thanks guys for your reviews! You all make great points, as for the humans/silly creatures thing, I didn't find out about that until before I posted the last chapter. Sorry about that. Also, it's not gonna be a complete romance thingy, I'm simply exploring the possabilities in Red and Gobo's relationship. I don't particularly like Mary Sue situations, and there'll be no mary sue in mah story! ;) I want to remain true to the sillyness and caring traits the Fraggles portray, if I do something that is oposite, don't be afraid to point that out and tell me. I'll try to get back on track. Thanks, Hubert for giving your constructive critique and reading this story. It makes me feel all special. Thanks to you too, Muppetfan24/7, and Collgoff for sticking with me. Love ya guys, I'm working on the next chappie right now!:)

okay, I am going to admit something that has never happened before... I've come down with a severe case of Writer's Block, anything you guys would like to see in the next chapter? HELP!
  7. muppetfan24/7 Well-Known Member

Oh! Poor Figgie! It's alright! I never liked Writer's Block either. I would love you to think about what Jim has to say to Red, Gobo, Mokey, Wembley, and Boober.

BTW: I am still waiting, but I will be patient. (sighs)!

Lol, sorry for the wait. What should he say to them?
  9. Collgoff Well-Known Member

Okay Alison I can help that's what friends are for friends help each other.

After they meet Jim and they left Ruthie's place they end up meeting a little girl who is an orphan In a orphage.
Gobo talks to her and helps her get away from the mean woman who runs it.

After that the fraggles told her that they we are looking for Traveling Matt and she agree to help the because she love helping others.

Chapter 7: Saying goodbye means going away

Jim Henson was in complete awe at the creatures sitting across from him. His body leaned forward slightly while his hands rested under his chin in contemplation. His face displayed no expression save for the small smile playing at the corners of his mouth. The little creatures seemed to be just as curious of him as he was of them. It made Jim smile to think that man had spent much of his lifetime thinking and looking for intelligent life in the surrounding universes, when really they should have looked below their feet.

For the past hour, Jim Henson had listened to the adventure that the small creatures called “Fraggles” had experienced while in London. As he talked and acquainted himself with the Fraggles, Jim couldn't help but feel and idea forming in the back of his mind. Another show for children and adults alike.

“Where did you say you were from?” He asked in his usual, quiet manner.
    “Fraggle Rock.” Gobo answered.
“And please don't ask them to sing again.” Boober interjected sourly. Rolling her eyes, Red turned to the silly creatures in front of her.
“We need to find his,” she stuck her thumb out and pointed to Gobo, “Uncle Traveling Matt. He came to Outer Spa- I mean Lun-den quite a while ago.” Red finished, having trouble pronouncing the word.
“And he usually writes me, but I haven't heard from him in months.” Gobo added, his shoulders drooping.
    “Well,” Jim said slowly.
“Yes?” The Fraggles asked in unison.
“Do you still have the letter he wrote last?” He finished. Nodding, Gobo retrieved the letter that was, at one point, neat and white. Said letter was now yellow and tearing along the edges. Opening it, Gobo started to read.

    “My dear nephew Gobo,
The Silly Creatures are indeed strange. Upon my recent investigations, I have discovered that many of these beings travel in what appears to be some sort of giant bird. It never moves its wings, instead it has huge wheels that come out of its stomach and roll it forward until its front tilts up and the rest of the bird's body follows. The creatures are constantly riding these birds and I myself have decided to venture on one myself. The one have chosen to travel on has a strange marking on its side. It reads: America.”
    “Amer-ee-kah?” Ruthy interrupted, frowning.
“That's what it says.”Gobo answered. Hopping over to the befuddled woman, Gobo pointed to the word on the paper.
“Oh no.” Ruthy gasped, her eyes widening considerably.
“W-w-what's w-wrong? Oh no is n-never a good s-s-sign!” Wembly said, his body shivering uncontrollably.
“Indeed.” Jim said, agreeing with Wembly.
“That doesn't say amereekah, Gobo. That says America.”
“Oh n-no!” Wembly shouted, his hands pulling at the ends of his hair. “Um. Who is America?”
“It's not a who, Wembly.” Jim answered. “It's a what and a where.”
“Okay then.” Gobo countered, still very confused. “What and where is America?”
“Well, America is another country. It's across the sea, to get from London to New York, would be 3,467 miles. You'd have to fly or take a boat. It also happens to be very big. Does the letter say anything else?” Gobo's eyes scanned the page before nodding.
“Yes, but just a little bit.”

Who knows what adventure lies beyond outer space? If this is the last you shall hear of me, dear nephew so be it. Wish me luck as I travel deeper into the deep space continuum.
    ~Signed,
    Uncle Matt

“Yes, well that was the last time you did hear from him.” Red commented, scanning over Gobo's shoulder. Nodding, Gobo looked over towards Ruthy.
“Is there a way we can get to these...metal birds?” He asked hopefully.
“Yes, they're actually called planes. I could take you there, if that would help at all?” She said, smiling softly. The Fraggles were starting to grow on her.
Ruthy, you don't have to do that. I know where the Airport is, I could take them myself. You should be resting.” Jim intervened, giving a stern look in the young woman's direction.
“Quick question,” Boober said, “what is an air port, and why should Ruthy be resting?”
“oh, I just have...a cold. That's all. I'm a little sick. And an airport is a place where the planes are located.” Ruthy gave Jim a pleading look before continuing. “And if you'd like to take them it's your choice.” Nodding, Jim stood up and turned towards the Fraggles.
“If we're going to the airport, we have to leave now. Sorry to say, I don't drive, I ride a bike>” He grinned sheepishly at the room, most of the stares were confused, however, one stood out as being rather annoyed.
“Of all the times you picked to go green.” Ruthy muttered.
“It's not that easy, being green.” Jim sang before a small throw pillow was chucked at his face.
“Ya know somethin'?” Gobo whispered to Red.
    “What?”
“I'll never be able to understand silly creatures.”

    /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

After arguing for a few more minutes, Jim had allowed Ruthy to hand him the keys to her car. She then proceeded to lead the group to the garage where her sky blue Volkswagen sat rusting. After the Fraggles were buckled in safely, Jim Henson turned to look at Ruthy who stood in the doorway. Shutting the car door he walked over to give her one last hug.
“You didn't tell them?” He asked sadly. She shook her head, a grim smile resting on her features.
“I've chosen my fate, Jim. I'd like to die on my own terms. Besides,” She gave an airy laugh. “they wouldn't understand if I told them I had cancer.” Nodding, he turned away, but before getting into the driver's seat he pulled the unsuspecting woman into a tight embrace.
“I'll be okay, just think of my life as a movie, and I'm just writing my own ending. But I'll keep believing, if you keep pretending.” She murmured into his dark, shoulder length hair. “You taught me that, and I've learned all I can.” Smiling, Jim waved goodbye and climbed into his own seat. Hatchley hopped up onto Ruthy's shoulder and sniffled. Wiping away a few of her tears, Ruthy smiled at her small friend.
“Go with them.” Was all she said. Hatchley looked up into the face of the only family she had ever known.
“Y-you mean it?” Ruthy only hugged Hatchley closer.
“Of course. It's time you saw the world without me holding you back. Go on.” Sliding down from her spot, Hatchley jumped onto the currently open car window.
“I love you, Ruthy.” She said tearfully. Ruthy's heart ached and her eyes welled with tears.
“I love you too, Hatch.” She whispered. She waved her hand until the car had disappeared from sight before closing the garage and heading inside to cry.

    /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

“You okay, Hatchley?” Mokey asked sorrowfully.
“Y-yeah, I'll be fine.” She gave a weak smile at the silver haired Fraggle. She would have continued speaking, that is, had a young girl ran out in front of their car. Jim slammed his foot on the brake, causing the Fraggles to lurch forward and the strange girl to leap back in fright. Leaning his head out of the window Jim asked:
"Are you all right young lady?" Nodding, the girl walked over ot the open window.
"I'm terribly sorry, I didn't see you coming. I am sorry, but would you be able to give me a ride to the airport?"
"We're heading that way, so hop in." The young girl quickly jogged over to the passenger side and sat down.
"I don't know how to thank you enough. My name is Molly Sanders."
So whatcha' think? Who is this mysterious girl? Also, sorry 'bout the heavyness of the chapter. I had been planning this a long time. :(

Awwww! The poor thing! I forgot she was sick. I guess Boober noticed it, huh? Oh well, but who in the rock is Molly? Figgie, how am i going to find that out? How is this even funny to you? Oh never mind!

Wait a minute! Gobo's Uncle Matt is somewhere in "America?" Oh dear! Figgie, figure out something and you left me on a cliffhanger again. Hmph! Like I always say, "I will never understand silly creatures."

I liked it a lot, especially Jim and the Fraggles' interaction. The pronunciations of London and America for the Fraggles was also great.

    Can't wait for more!
