I wear a beaded bracelet all the time, and it has green beads. So with that (and my GIR in green dog costume t-shirt), I was all set for St P's Day. Except that I didn't even remember it was St. P's Day until I got to skoo.

Oh, and people kept trying to steal my bracelet. They're always after me lucky charms. What? Why does everyone always laugh when I say that?

(Okay, I made that last part up.)

and well, every St. Pattys day, I hear that Unicorn song sung by those irish guys, and I didnt hear it today, so here is the lyrics, at least I can read them and remember the toon....

A long time ago, when the Earth was green
There was more kinds of animals than you've ever seen
They'd run around free while the Earth was being born
And the loveliest of all was the unicorn

There was green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
The loveliest of all was the unicorn

The Lord seen some sinning and it gave Him pain
And He says, "Stand back, I'm going to make it rain"
He says, "Hey Noah, I'll tell you what to do
Build me a floating zoo,
and take some of those...

Green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
Don't you forget My unicorns

Old Noah was there to answer the call
He finished up making the ark just as the rain started to fall
He marched the animals two by two
And he called out as they came through
Hey Lord,

I've got green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but Lord, I'm so forlorn
I just can't find no unicorns"

And Noah looked out through the driving rain
Them unicorns were hiding, playing silly games
Kicking and splashing while the rain was falling
Oh, them silly unicorns

There was green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Noah cried, "Close the door because the rain is falling
And we just can't wait for no unicorns"

The ark started moving, it drifted with the tide
The unicorns looked up from the rocks and they cried
And the waters came down and sort of floated them away
That's why you never see unicorns to this very day

You'll see green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
You're never gonna see no unicorns

[New Lyrics]
Now you might think this is the ending to the song,
But I'll have to tell you friends that in fact your wrong
You see, Unicorns are magical, so when the rain started pouring,
They grew themselves some wings and they took to soaring.

You'll see green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
But if you're looking for the unicorns, don't be forlorn,
The second star to the right and straight on until morning.

The Irish Rovers

Those Irish guys are the Irish Rovers. I had a fantastical St. Pats! I marched in the St. Pattie's day parade in Montreal with my new Wiener dog (all decked in green we were!) and when I did my Celtic show on the radio I had a live Bag Piper from the Black Watch on yesterday. It was AMAZING. Which is exactly what he played, Amazing Grace.....

OMG, I LOOOOVVVVVVE the Irish Rovers! Along with Simon and Garfunkel they're my favorite band! They were just in Erie last week and I missed them. But I've seen them in concert three times. They're the best. Have they sung those last lyrics before, or did you add them? I've never heard them. I've got probably about 10 Rovers albums, but my favorite is "Tales to Warm Your Mind," which unfortunately is about impossible to get. In fact, I only have a copy, which my uncle gave me, but we used to have the record and it disappeared. Anyway, the Rovers rock!!

Irish Rovers

The unicorn song is from the thier children's album titled :"Children of the Unicorn". They used to have a TV show for kids and that's where it came from. However, it's also very hard to get. HOWEVER! If you would like to hear it, I will play it on my radio show next week. It's on every Wednesday at 1 in the afternoon (EST). www.ckdj.net It's all Celtic tunes and such, mostly from Canada though....gotta go with the home team so to speak...lol. Let em know if you have any requests!

It's also on a lot of their other albums, since it's one of their signature tunes. Most of their compilation-type albums have it, and some of the regular albums. Some of the versions have slightly different lyrics. Will Millar also included it on his children's album "The Keeper," which he came out with shortly after leaving to Rovers to go solo.
