    Does anyone know where to find, or how to write :( and :p 's name in Kanji (Japanese writing)? If not the characters for their name, how about "best friends"?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated. I need it for some fan art. Thx!

    Sad thing is I SHOULD know this. If I gave you one, you'd have to double check, since I can only really give it to you phonetically. I;m sort of rusty...

    However, I can tell you this.

    The lettering isn't kanji, per se... Kanji being the Chinese set of characters that make up complex words... it would be in katakana, a series of letters used for foreign words and names...

    Phonetically Ernie translates to "Ah-nee" (they have no equivvilant for the "er" sound, so they substitute a soft a) and Bert may be Ba-to.

    Ernie = ア-ニ- (notice use of hyphens to stress the vowel sound) and
    Bert= バ-ト

    But I'd double check with a Japanese sesmae Street website first.

    Actually... never mind that last bit. I double checked for you, and I'm right. Remember the hyphens, though.

    The worst part is that I did everything through memory and my knowledge of Japanese to English transliterations of cartoon character names and phonetics. All I had to do was click a couple times.

    Awesome. Thank you SO much. Just to clarify, "Bert & Ernie" translates to:
    バート と アーニー
