"Apax Partners said Hit was "uniquely positioned in the global market for pre-school children's entertainment" with a history of developing "breakthrough characters" and a strong distribution platform."

...though they seem to be lacking in that department when it comes to some shows...

:stick_out_tongue:

Well who knows, perhaps new leadership will be the shake-up needed to get our box sets into production..

They own Fraggle Rock?
They own the distribution rights to Fraggle Rock (and other shows in the Henson Family Showcase). The Jim Henson Company still owns the productions, but HIT has the right to release DVD, VHS, toys, ect.

And just like Disney (or Disney Channel) has the TV rights here in the USA! But HIT! still owns them!

HIT doesn't OWN them; they have distribution rights.

God, the JHC is so splintered, it must make anything so frustrating.

You could say that again!

(Ya don't have to...but I mean, you could, ya know?)

That paired with the constant shake-ups within the last 4-6 years (EM.TV, the Valentine affair, Sesame Workshop taking SS, the Henson kids buying JHC, now Disney...) makes being a devout Muppet fan an awefully difficult struggle.

Our shows are like the princess. "Sorry Mario, but Fraggle Rock is in ANOTHER CASTLE!"

"Uniquely positioned..." to me means they're trying to buy the company now and then sell it off later for substantial profit. To be honest, it will surprise me if we even get our box sets now. Of course, we are getting ready to enter year 2 of a five-year deal, so who knows what will happen. Maybe Disney will just buy "FR" and combine them back with Kermit and pals.
