I was telling one of the kids I watch about one of my favorite songs from Seasame Street. She is 6. I would love to share it with her. :halo:
    Thanks,
    Pam

    Get it right for once!!

That is actually Mahna Mahna and it is not performed by Animal, but by a hippie Muppet named, obviously, Mahna Mahna. Anybody else want to set this poor soul straight?

MirandaPanda, I'm not clear on what your question is exactly. I believe we know of the song you're talking about and that it is called "Mahna Mahna". Are you wanting to know where you can find the song? This particular song does play on Muppet Central Radio. http://www.muppetcentral.com/radio/index.shtml Perhaps you'll get to hear it there.

Here's a link to an old thread that was started about Mahna Mahna for you or anybody that has questions about this song. http://forum.muppetcentral.com/showthread.php?t=6233

If your question is something else entirely or we're all thinking of a different song, let us know and we'll try to help. There's smarter people here than me! That's fer sure. :flirt:

    Thanks a bunch

This is my first time on here so please forgive my newcomer mistakes. Now that I put the question out there I have been singing the song all day. The kids think I am nuts!!! I just wanted them to hear the song. I am glad I found this place. Just listening to the radio has brought back many fun memories. Thanks again for your help.

    Mahna Mahna

I found this in a muppet lyric site:

    Mahna mahna
    (ba dee bedebe)
    mahna mahna
    (ba debe dee)
    mahna mahna
(ba dee bedebe badebe badebe dee dee de-de de-de-de)

    (repeats)

mah mama na mahna mah namwomp mwomp
    ma mo mo mana mo
    mahna mahna
    (ba dee bedebe)
    mahna mahna
    (ba debe dee)
    Mahna Mahna!
(ba dee bedebe bedebe badebe debe de-de de-de-de)

    (long pause)

    ...mahna mahna?

    Newb!

That's "doo-doo-do-do-do," not what you put! Newbs always get that wrong!!!

Well, I'm certainly not a "newb" as you put it, but from what I understand the lyrics have been cited both ways. The way I see it, both ways are correct.

    Thank you Cindy!

Thank you! I always thought with the Snowth mouths that they were in the shape of the "oo" sound! Whatever. :D

In the earlier SS versions of the song, the backup singers (two girls) did sing "Ba dee ba dee bee." This version of the song is on the tape "Sesame Street Celebrates Jim Henson."

However, the Sullivan appearance, and Ep.1 of TMS, both used the version "Doo do doo do do."

I wrote an article over a year ago and researched all this deeply, but the guy who was bringing it up to use it still hasn't yet.

I am starting to get dizzy trying to keep track of tall this ba-dee-bee-do's and doo-dee-doo-bees and bee-bee-dee-bo's. The point is that she now has the lyrics and can listen to the song whenever she wants. Who really cares how the words go, most of us just hum that part anyways.

I just watched the SS special today. At the final end, they show the skit with Bip Boppity and 2 girls, with the lyrics I provided in an above post. So,the skit does exist after all.No point, just stating facts.

Both lyrics are indeed correct & as a matter of fact, the song was used elsewhere too from what I have heard. I have heard the story that the song was actually in a foreign porn flick. I have a hard rock, fast paced version of the song. I put in on one of my mix CDs a few years ago. Cannot remember where I got it. I forgot all about it until I popped the disk in my car stereo a few weeks ago. It uses the "do do do do do" instead of the "ba de be de" but the old SS clip used "dees" & the MS used "dos" Lighten up, erniebert1234ss! The forum is a happy & fun place.

    Do The .. Mahna Mahna!

Still looking through my links, but there was a site that contained all
three versions (.ra format) (yes, three...)

The Muppet Show version, the original version released on 45 RPM
(daddy whats a r-record?), and a rare Disco version.

Yes it was such a hit in Sweeden, they decided to Discoise it... A chick
sings the main lyrics in the song, like "Mahna-----ma----na..." with
some disco-like string sounds providing the "dee-doo-bees and
    bee-bee-dee-bo's".

And for those old enough to remember The Benny Hill Show, Benny
used the song quite freqently (instrumental) in his "fast moving"
    skits.

(and no it was not the "end chase" music, that was "Yakety Sax"
    by Boots Randolph) ;)

I've got episode #573 from 1973 on VHS, and it has the spoken intro with Bip Boppity and the two girls, and Bip Boppity walking away at the end (Although it might not be complete, since the first thing one of the girls says is "We could sing a good song, if we had one more person to sing," and that doesn't sound like the first line of a skit).
