    Riddle me this:

How come I can't find the Old School set anywhere, not even Wal-Mart?

How come Costco has to torture me, by a) NOT having this set, but b) having "The Best of Elmo's World" box set? :grouchy: Not exactly what I was looking for. Costco is just taunting me now. :boo:

Maybe it's cause I'm Canadian? Maybe I'm not meant to have this set, and the Wal-Mart electronics department workers are secretly having a laugh everytime I walk in there and leave empty handed? Maybe it's fate? Bad timing? I don't know!!

    But it's driving me crazy.

its probablly (i dont know for sure) because they will only produce the set in the U.S. unless the American Sesame Street has ever aired in Canada. I'm sorry you can't find it. :sympathy: :(

It's because you're Canadian and are cursed! Just kidding. Actually, it's not an easy thing to find here in the states either.

Barry Lee, yes Sesame Street aired in Canada, for many years! I was raised on it. ;) Canadian Sesame came much later. You think it would be here but it's not! Hopefully I'll find it soon >: D

Yes we do have Best Buys, but I hadn't thought to check there at all! Thanks for the good idea!

I am cursed! Have you been able to find it?

Heh, yet another reason for me to never shop at Wal Mart (not that I ever have). Now that I think about it, I've been shopping online much more lately, rather than going to a store.

Good luck finding the DVD, Mrs. Pepper!

Rully? You guys are having troubles finding the SS Old School Volume 1 DVD set?
Found it at the first place I tried.

Wanted to do some online shopping through www.amazon.com so the proceeds would benefit MC, like a loyal MC member.
But when it was proving a bit tough to shop for my siblings, I decided the heck with it... I'll just get them to shop for the others and take care of my own B-Day and X-Mas shopping instead.

Headed off to a store called Spec's, not sure if you have it where you live MrsPepper, but they had it in stock. The guy couldn't find it at the time, just as well, since I ordered some other SS and Muppet CD's and DVD's. My order's almost complete, just waiting for them to get Electric Company Volume 2 and the Green & Red Christmas CD. Will probably swing by and get them next week, saving the SS Old School for my B-Day.

They have it on special for around $25-$30, so let us all know if you can't find it.
    Hope this helps.

Only saw one copy at a Barnes and Noble out here. Didn't buy it because it's on my Christmas/Birthday list, so I wanted to wait. My mom was out shopping the other day and told me it was so hard to find. She said she found the last one, but it was behind a bunch of other stuff.

How much was it a B&N? Their DVDs are always expensive!

THAT'S THE PROBLEM!!! No... not that your from Canada, but you're trying in too many mainstream stores. You need to go off the beaten path. Maybe local chain stores that sell exclusively DVD's and CD's will have it. I found this Only at a New England chain called Newburry Comics.

Count, I've never heard of that store, I don't think there's one nearby. But thanks for your help. :)

Drtooth, that is a good idea. However there is one problem.

Chains like that (Future Shop, CD Warehouse, etc) tend to be very expensive, unless they have a sale. For example, FutureShop routinely has Futurama and other tv box sets around $35-$40 at the VERY LEAST. I got Futurama season 1 at Wal-Mart for $17.50. That is CANADIAN dollars. That is an excellent deal.

I got TMS season 1 at Future Shop because it was onsale when it first came out for 36$, the cheapest I have ever seen it in any store at any time (including WalMart, actually). I got both FR's at Costco for about 26$ each.

Frankly I can't afford to buy a set for $40-50 dollars. I am a student, 'nuff said! :/ That amount is a bit too much to spend on one item. So I am forced to bargain hunt, and stores like the ones I mentioned tend to have the best deals.

Hmmm... Lemme do a bit of price checking when I go back to the store to get my copy of SS Old School along with the other Muppet CD's and DVD's I ordered.
Will LYK ASAP MrsP. If you wanna send me a PM or E-mail with your mailing info... That'd be cool, though I say lemme check the pricing first.

The only thing I asked for they couldn't find in their computers was the Muppets Magic/Ed Sullivan DVD. They also haven't gotten the Green & Red Christmas CD in stock, but it's on its way.

Actually, it tends to vary store to store. Ironically the cheapest I found the Electric Company DVD set 1 was around $30 at some indie chain when I went to New Hampshire.

Newburry Comics over here, for example tends to have some prices cheaper and some prices higher than regular stores. National chains have better prices on most items (though Best Buy is a contraditcion in terms for some things), but a more limited selection. Online is usually the best way to go, if you are able to purchase off a computer.

BTW, I actually have so little box sets and want so much, and they do tend to get pricey. I also want to add, I know things in Canada cost more than in the US.

I finally found it at best buy lastnight they had 2 copies! ugh finally the search is over!

I saw two copies at Best Buy the week it came out, squirrelled away among the zillion other Sesame DVDs, but even though I really want it, I stopped myself from buying and decided I would ask for it for Christmas. Only now I worry the people buying presents for me won't be able to find it!

I've been on the lookout, and so far there's no sign of it at Target, Barnes & Noble, Tower (but then, they're in liquidation right now getting ready to close, so no surprise). I haven't looked at Davis Kidd, Borders, Toys R Us, or Costco (I've never even been to Costco--Nashville just got its first one a month or two ago).
