Know how to cook?

My abuela was a kickbutt cook. (This is my Sicilian gypsy great-grandma I'm talking about.) Her sons all learned to cook from her. My dad, oddly, didn't learn from his dad, but he picked up gourmet cooking late in life as a hobby -- which my brother and I applauded, since all he cooked for years was spaghetti with the world's largest, driest meatballs which no one but him liked, silver dollar Bisquick pancakes (it got old EVERY Sunday), and shrimp scampi (one out of three...). I learned at about age 13 and have improved almost every year since. :hungry:

And I forgot to add in an earlier post here: yes, I have made up my own recipies. I spent about six months one year experimenting for the PERFECT marinara sauce. And once when I was...er...um...well, let's say I'd inhaled a bit, and had the munchies, and dug through the 'fridge to see what was workable, I came up with a marvelous winter fruit salad. It involves mincemeat and I'm quite proud of it. (And yes, anyone who wants the recipie, PM me!)

How many recipies does everyone know by heart here? The kind you don't need a cookbook for because you've made it so many times? There are a few great dishes that have been traditions in my family that I've made so often I could do them in my sleep...which reminds me, I'd really LOVE a boliche for New Year's or my birthday...hmmm...better start saving/budgeting now!

There was a clip on the Today Show about Bacon wrapped hotdogs. At one point they were talking about this place where they have chorizo as a topping and the guys said something to the extent of "So you can have pork on your pork that's been wrapped in pork"

I need some real Spanish chorizo! All the ones they sell around here are Mexican, and there is a HUGE taste difference...hmm...maybe I can get a friend in FL to send me some. Can't make a good boliche without chorizo stuffing.

Tellin' ya. Bacon chocolate. The bomb.
