Forgot to mention this ages ago when I first wrote it. When I get bored I wrote songs and poetry and etc. (yes I have no life) about how I'm feeling. It was like the 27th December or sometime afer Christmas and I'd just watched MFC. The scene with Big Bird and Swedish Chef was so sad- definitely my favourite part of the movie!! But I felt so sorry for him that I had to write a song for him, so I came up with Life According to Tom.

Among the chaos, a man sits down
Shipped in from lands afar
Using different tongues to his so-called friends
Mixed up vocal messages he often sends
Backstage where the drama never ends

In his stripey blue shirt he looks a sight
With his human hands just poking through
And when the grub he makes is chewed
He never receives gratitude
His only friends are singing food

He merely appears as a background man
Sometimes saying random words
And cos he may not be around for long
I've decided to write this song
This sad existence is life for Tom
Life for Tom
Life for Tom
I repeat! I have no life!!

Nice...but what we really NEED is an Ingmar Bergman style film, in black and white and with lots of looooong pauses with various Muppet foods standing around looking mournful...and really, really bad overdubbing!
