My Time To Shine: A Muppet Show Fanfic

Well, The Muppet Show is celebrating 40 years this year. So, I'm gonna do another TMS fanfic, but THIS time, it's gonna be me who's the guest star.

Chapter 1: Beginnings

It's been a rough year for me. My grandfather, Jim Shifflett, who incidentally will be 80 next May, was in the hospital last June. School was stressing me out. And who helped me through those times? The Muppets, of course! They've always been there for me in tough times. So, one day, I'm just relaxing in my living room, or what I call my studio, and I get this strange phone call. Of course my mom answers it just like she answers every other phone call.
"Matt, it's for you" Mom said.
"Oh goodie a phone call for me for once." I thought to myself.
"Hello?"
"Hi Ho there, Matt" The voice said.
"K-Kermit? Is that you?" I said.
"Why yes it is! How did you know?"
"Trust me, I recognize that voice."
"Glad you do. Well, I've heard a lot about your story."
"Oh you have."
"Why yes. Your mother told me all about it."
"Being the sweet mother that she is. So, what's up?"
"Well, I wanted to know if you would like to guest star on The Muppet Show"
I just stood there shocked.
"Why Kermit, I-I never thought you'd ask. I'd love to!"
"Fantastic! Now, do you have any talents?
"Why yes I do."
"And they are?"
"Acting and singing."
"Oh, so you're an actor?"
"Yes."
"Any big productions you're doing right now?"
"No. Just doing school plays for now."
"Gotta start somewhere."
"True."
"Now, last question. Is there anyone you'd like to do a scene with?"
Again, I was shocked.
"No doubt. Miss Piggy, please."
"Alright, Miss Piggy it is."
"Well, Mr. Bingel. It was nice talking to ya and I can't wait to see ya when you come out here."
"Can't wait to see ya."
"Alrighty, goodbye now."
"Bye Kermit."
Once, I hung up, I cried tears of joy because this is what I dreamed of for years.
Look out LA, here I come!

Ok. I apologize for the long delay. Getting back to school is tough. Never the less, Chapter 2 is ready and here it is.

Chapter 2: The True Beginning
So, Thursday night, I'm all ready to fly out to LA. This is my first plane flight since going to Boston in April, but I'm really excited for THIS trip.
"Please be careful, but have a good time." My mother told me before I left for LA.
"I will."
"And one more thing, please call me."
"Oh I will. I might be at the studio while you call me though."
"Oh, that's right. You'll be on the West Coast."
"Yes."
"Ok. Love you."
"Love you too."
And so, I take the 5 hour 5 minute flight from BWI to LAX that night.


9:35 PM PST
DAY .5
LOS ANGELES

So, I arrive in Los Angeles. I call an Uber (yes I use Uber) and got to my hotel in like 10 minutes with no traffic.
"So, what brings ya to LA?" The man driving asked.
"Actually, I'm guest starring on a new show."
"But you're not recognizable."
"To most. Yet anyway."
"Ah. What show?"
"The Muppet Show."
"Really?!"
"Yep."
"Why, that must be a big honor for you!"
"You bet it is!"
"How are you getting on this show?"
"Beats me. Apparently, my mom told them about me."
"Oh. Must be very deserving then."
"Absolutely."

Once I arrived to the hotel, I gave the man my autograph just in case it came in handy.
I check in, and my room is beautiful and custom made, just for me. Yes, they knew I was coming.

So, I walk in and I see this note. Here's the very note and this is what it wrote.

Dear Matt,
Hi Ho! We are so happy that you are here in Los Angeles. We already talked about what you wanted to do in the show. I'll have a meeting with the crew tomorrow and let you know about it. Hope to see ya before Monday, but if not I'll see you then.

Along with the letter came things like directions to and from the studio, schedule, and my guest pass. There was also a letter from Executive Producer Bill Baretta.

Dear Matt,
Greetings! We are so excited to have you on the show. Kermit (and Steve) told me all about you, or at least most of it. Unless there's more that you'll tell us later on. Anyways, just writing to ya sayin' welcome to LA.
See ya Monday!

Now I knew this was something I was never gonna forget.

Well, Chapter 3 isn't done yet and I know you all have been waiting so long for an update. Blame school. I'll post what I have so far.

Chapter 3 (Part 1): Day 1

9:30 AM
FRIDAY BEFORE STUDIO

*phone rings*

"Hello?"
"Hi ho Matt!"
"Hi Kermit! I'd knew i'd be talking to ya before Monday. How did the meeting go?"
"It went great. They're so excited to meet you."
"Well, I'm just as excited to meet them."
"Oh good."
"Well Kermit, I'm glad you updated me."
"Not a problem. Shall I see you then?"
"Of course."
"See ya Kermit."


3:30 AM
MONDAY
LOS ANGELES

So, I set my alarm for 5:30. However, my phone rings. Yes at 3:30 in the morning. It's my mom.
"Hello?"
"Hi Matt"
"Mom? What are you calling me this early for?"
"Oh, how late is it over there?"
"Mom, it's 3:30 here. Remember, time zones."
"Right."
"I mean i don't mind."
"Ok. What time are you supposed to get up?"
"5:30"
"Ok. So that you can get ready and stuff?"
"Yeah."
"Have you rehearsed anything?"
"Mom!"
"What?"
"I haven't even stepped foot into the studio yet!"
"Right. Well, I better let you go."
"Ok. Love you. Bye."

Strangest phone call this year.


5:30 AM
My alarm finally goes off and I am so excited! My first day in the studio! Of course, I get ready. Ready for the start of the best experience of my life!
Minutes later, my phone rings. It's Steve.
"Good morning this is Matt speaking."
"Good morning guest star."
"Oh Steve!"
"Anyways, can't wait to see ya at the studio!"
"I'm excited!"
"Well I'll see ya soon. Oh and incidentally, do you know who's taking you to the studio?"
"Haven't heard anything."
"Well, you're in for quite the surprise. Look for an Orange Chevy Camero. I'll see ya soon!"

So, I come out of the hotel and sure enough, it was that orange Chevy Camero. But then I see something. Or someone for that matter. And he was waving at me.
"Wait a minute. If the car is orange and so is he...then it must be Scooter!" I thought to myself.
"Scooter!!"
"Hey! How ya doin'?"
"I'm doin' fantastic! How bout you?"
"Doing just fine. You know? It's fantastic to have you on this show."
"Oh trust me, it's an honor to be doing this show."
"Well we're glad to have ya!"

That's what I have so far. Hopefully I can get the rest of the chapter done as soon as I can.
