Well some time ago I red on the internet that the fraggle rock movie is been on hold for now. So there are some facts you know!

Did you know Jim Henson and Jerry Juhl tried to do a fraggle movie right after the show ended?

Well the company have been trying to do it since then so we better hope they will soon.:smirk::excited::coy:

I concur (sp?). I gotta admit, I was a little bit skeptical of the idea to use pop music for the movie, since the Fraggles have sung all kinds of music. It could work, though--nobody believed in Mr. Bimbo at first, after all...

The REAL news is that it's still held up in production, but thankfully Weinstine is out of the picture.

Unfortunately, so is Cory. And HE was the one who wrote the script AND was attached to direct.

So... the Movie COULD still happen with Henson's involvement, but they need a new partner, and as Cory's script is still contractually held up at a studio that doesn't want it  so they ALSO need a new script (I hope they can get Cory back, or at LEAST work with the same treatment that Zappa kid had). So even thinking positively, this movie could be still a while off.

Even WITHOUT the Weinstine company, the Weinstines are screwing the project. I hope Henson can find some loophole or just find some way to get the script and Cory back.

I was one of Edwards' earliest and staunchest supporters, but after seeing "Hoodwinked Too" I want Cory Edwards far away from the Fraggles! I just don't see how the screenplay's problems could only be blamed on the director.

I've been overly harsh on the Henson Company for keeping this project in pre-production purgatory for so long. It needs help and maybe this Thanksgiving's Muppet movie will inspire the best of the best to the Fraggle Rock Movie. :excited:

He wasn't the only one that wrote it... and he even complained quite a bit about what happened. In one of the comments of the premire, an analytical reason to why it stunk was given, to which Cory added this:

I noticed there were 4 writers, and Cory and his brother (?) were just the first two.
The film was plagued with problems (could you imagine what would have happened to the Fraggle Film, even with a great script under their hands?), Corey was kicked off the project, and stuff sounds like it was altered terribly. Plus, I noticed a LOT of instances of ADR (additional dialogue recording or replacement), with unfunny lines muttered by characters that didn't actually talk onscreen.

Personally, it's not Cory's fault, it's another power play by Weinstine to keep a studio afloat. Didn't work.

...and any belingering hope I had for Hoodwinked Too! is flushed down the drain.

Honestly, you'd think if the first one grossed enough to warrant a sequel, they'd trust the screenwriters enough to not rewrite the script into a clichéd cinema catastrophe.

Oh well, back to my box.

I really think that film gauged the fate of the FR movie. The studio futzed with it, they sat on it for a year, and just dumped it out on a date no one would bother with it.

Now I know why Cory was so frustrated that they went over his head and tried to get other "edgier" writers for the Fraggle Film... they ALREADY did it with Hoodwinked 2. A bad director can ruin any script, sure... but meddling studio execs and script doctors can DESTROY it. Look what happened to Superman 2.

Blaming Cory for Hoodwinked 2 is like blaming John K for the bad, unfunny, and disturbing episodes of Ren and Stimpy, like Aloha Hoek. They studio pushed them out of it, saw dollar signs, and put someone incapable in there to "fix" things. Clearly the reception proved they were wrong. You see, he didn't so much say "Yeah? You didn't like it? It's not MY fault!" but rather "Yeah... the studio messed with my work and my characters, I'm really not happy about it. Can we talk about something else?"

I hope the ORIGINAL script gets leaked someday.

You're not being harsh you're speding your thoughts on Cory Edwards and Fraggle rock.
If you tell someone about things that bug you that way you'll learn to understand the sircustandests.
