Invitation Only' Event Has 'Inspiring Peace & Unity Through Music' as Goal

LOS ANGELES, July 23 /PRNewswire/ -- An impressive list of some of the music industry's top artists, songwriters, and producers will gather together for the 2003 Songwriters' Summit for Oneness on July 26, 2003 at The Jim Henson Company (formerly A&M Records and Studios) in Los Angeles.

The invitation-only event is hosted by Oneness, a non-profit organization whose mission is "... the elimination of racism and promotion of racial unity through music, the arts, and education." This year's summit is themed "Inspiring Peace & Unity Through Music." It provides an inspired environment of collaboration where artists can utilize their personal experiences with racism to create songs for and about unity. In a time when our world is littered with violence and hatred, the event holds a particularly poignant goal.

Some of this year's participants include the legendary Lamont Dozier (The Supremes, Barbra Streisand, Phil Collins), Wade Robson (Britney Spears, *NSYNC), Marti Sharron (Celine Dion, Anita Baker), Warryn Campbell (Dru Hill, Heavy D), KC Porter (Santana, Ricky Martin, Michael Jackson), Franne Golde (Christina Aguilera, Faith Hill), Dan Navarro (Pat Benatar), and organizers await confirmations from Seal, Melissa Etheridge, Me'Shell NdegeOcello, Rodney Jerkins, Carole King, and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, among others. The songs created at this year's Summit will be combined with songs from the 2002 Songwriters' Summit for Oneness in a musical compilation to promote peace and unity. Oneness supporters include Carlos Santana, Ricky Martin, BB King, Macy Gray, Sarah McLachlan, Brian McKnight, and many others.

Oneness and its Songwriters' Summit have a growing reputation within the music industry, as evidenced by the exciting list of artists involved with the organization and event. Supporters of the 2003 Songwriters' Summit for Oneness include BMI, ASCAP, Universal Publishing, SESAC, SST Synthesizer Technologies Inc, Soundabout Music, and Remo Drums.

The Jim Henson Company has supported Oneness by providing its facilities for the Summit for a second year.
