I saw this posted online today and thought it sounded pretty good...if you're in or near NYC and have been looking for an "in" in the theatre/puppet scene this might be just the opportunity for you:

Two brilliant young puppet designers (Eric Wright and Emily DeCola) are actively seeking four brilliant, enthusiastic underpaid assistants to help construct an entire cast of puppet and mask characters for an Off-Broadway, musical production of George Orwell's ANIMAL FARM. The show is being produced by Synapse Productions and opening February 7th at The Connelly Theatre at 220 E. 4th St., NYC. Gain valuable contacts in the downtown Off-Broadway scene!

For more information about the show and the company, check out the Synapse Website at http://www.synapseproductions.org/ We will be building two full collections of puppets for the play - one set of stage puppets (direct manipulation and body puppets with a nod to Julie Taymor) and one of shadow characters, during the month of November, 2003.

Duties include: light carpentry, papier-mâché, painting, surface treatments, molding/casting and other odd jobs. Must be unafraid of (nay, comfortable with) hot glue, power tools, paint brushes and hardware stores. Creativity and experience are pluses, but availability and eagerness to work on a great project for no money is essential. This is great experience for anyone interested in puppetry, prop design, or any kind of stagecraft. For those involved in a collegiate degree program, we are able to offer course credit for your work.
