Not a household name to many- he never had a hit in the pop charts, didn't get his songs played on the radio (except college FM radio in the late 60's/early 70's), and never got to appear on the Muppet Show. But Johnny Winter was one of the most amazing guitarists ever.
Anyone whoever played guitar would rank him up there with Eric Clapton or Jimi Hendrix.

Visually he was something to see- a near-blind albino with white hair who could play the blues like it was nobody's business. Check out anything on youtube and you'd be amazed.
See him live like I did a few years back and your jaw would drop.
Thanks Johnny, you gave one of the best shows I ever saw.
