sewing & stitches

i'm on the hunt for some info on good stitches (preferably something free w/ pictures )

i can sew, and it holds. i just want to find cleaner stitches. i've heard that the infamous "henson stitch" was criss-crossed like a tight baseball stitch. problem is that i don't even know what the heck a baseball stitch. i'm sewing illiterate.
