A new 2-1/2 minute trailer for Spider-Man 2 will make its debut this Thursday night on NBC's The Apprentice (9pm ET, PT). USA Today broke the story of the trailer's debut and cited a potential audience of 22 million as the primary reason Sony is debuting the trailer on TV rather than in the theaters. The trailer, which will air about forty minutes into The Apprentice, will start running in movie theaters on Friday. Typically a trailer running before the top rated movie at this time of the year might be seen by as many as four million theater patrons on any given weekend. The length and cost of airing the new trailer, which reportedly includes a key confrontation
between Spidey and Doc Ock, is considerably greater than the typical 30-second TV tease that most movies get, and provides some indication of the importance that Sony has placed on this project.

In addition to the new trailer, Sony is also readying a 13-minute behind-the-scenes documentary, Spider-Man 2: HBO First Look, which will start airing on the HBO pay cable network on Thursday, June 24. HBO is also running the original Spider-Man movie numerous times during June leading up to the debut of Spider-Man.
