The friendship between Red and Cotterpin!

O.K. we all know that Cotterpin Doozer is not like all the other doozers.
Not only that Red Fraggle has been friends with Cotterpin since the All work and all play episode of Fraggle Rock.

So what's the friendship between Red Fraggle and Cotterpin Doozer?

As someone who LOVES to write Cotterpin (and Red), here are my thoughts:

Cotterpin senses she can think of things other Doozers can't. She wants to be a Fraggle because she can't identify with the usual work of the Doozers. She even runs away from the Doozers to join the Fraggles, hoping that that is the source of her discomfort. However, she is distressed to find out she really DOES like some Doozer things. She ends her desire to be a Fraggle, but not her friendship with them, when the Architect proves to her that her personality is better suited to being an Architect.

Red, on the other hand, feels torn. She wants to be popular and athletic like Gobo, but Marooned lets it slip that she shares a few personality traits with Boober. She can't admit it, of course, so she feels a certain bond with Cotterpin, who is similarly trying to avoid the obvious about her personality. Red, I think, has an unspoken respect for a creature so desperate to be true to herself that she would consider leaving her family and friends, something Red herself is too timid to do.

I understand the first half of this.
But Dose the 2ed half mean?

Red can't admit that sometimes she likes to chill, or that she gets afraid. She admits this to Boober in Marooned. It's compounded because she senses this fear and stuff in Matt, Gobo's hero, but she can't very well admit to traits she despises in the Fraggle who takes away Gobo's attention from her, now can she? Anyway, Red, despite her claims to be adventurous, is fearful of ever leaving her comfort zone. She won't go into Outer Space. She won't leave the Fraggle Five (permanently, anyway). I think this is why she admires Cotterpin. Cotterpin told her how she was running away from Doozer Dome to become a Fraggle. This is something perhaps Red has thought about, but is too afraid to do. Thus, she respects Cotterpin for such "bravery".

Well that's really good!
Those 2 do have each other's backs no matter what.
