"Good grief! It's Princess Number Nine!"

I remembered watching the King Of Eight segment on 123 Sesame Street yesterday. I believe that it was made on the second season of Sesame Street and it was shown in '99!

Do you remember watching the King of Eight segment on 123?

Oh, I love it. It's a great display of Jim crossing many borders. He created everything in that too, Ya know....the sets, puppets, voices, stop motion, etc.

It's just amazing that half the world doesn't know about Henson's animation talents, whether King of Eight or the Baker # series intro or even in Timepiece with the confetti-esque animation that seemed to show up between scenes.

Narrator speaks: Once upon a time in The Land of Eight,
There stood a castle, very great.
Eight flags were waving in the air
For the King of Eight had put them there.

A muted trumpet blows: Doot,do do do do do do
Doot,do do do do do do
Doot,do do do do do do
Doot doot do

King of Eight speaks: (has the voice of Rowlf the dog)
I'm the King of Eight,
And I'm here to state
That everything here must number eight,
The guards, for instance, by the gate
Must always number exactly eight.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

Muted trumpet blows again: Doot,do do...

King continues: In my castle, in back of me,
Are eight windows you can see.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

In these windows are my daughters,
Show yourselves, my dears.

(each princess calls out her number): 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

Each princess wears a golden crown,
With eight jewels going 'round.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

So I love eight,
Eight is great,
Eight is the number I do not...

King's messenger blurts out: WAIT!!!
Important news comes from the Queen,
A new baby! And I have seen,
That she is well, and doing fine.

King says: Good grief, that's princess number nine!!

To finish up for JFS...
And then the round placard with the number 8 above the doorway where the King of 8 stands falls off of the castle wall and flattens the *messenger*.
BTW: Is that a messenger or a jester? Got him in my Muppet Listings as "The Jester" (from the Kingdom of 8), though guess maybe that should be changed to the Land of 8?
LMK if it was a messenger or jester to make the appropriate changes.
Thanks and great weekend to all.

Something else to think about.
After the queen and princess #9 came back to the Land of 8, do you think that the royal family moved out of the castle and into the giant houselike number 9 vacated by the little old lady and her family? You know from the animated classic of the little old lady who lived in a number 9 until her nine dogs picked up a stray and they had to move to a number 10?
Well, food for thought.
