Yeah, someone photoshopped the picture so that it shows Kermit but the original seems to have been a Bert doll.

I always thought it was Bert and love that picture, but I always wondered why he was holding Bert (a Frank Oz character) and not Ernie or Kermit or any pther of his characters.

Maybe he was just playin around with the toy to see what the toy was like

Does anyone know why this picture was taken? because it is quite a sad photo, it gives an idea that he is feeling down. In The World of Jim Henson Documentary they show that picture when Frank Oz is talking about how Jim was disapointed when one of the movies they spent lots of time on didnt get much of a response from movie executives in first screening, either The Dark Crystal or the Labyrinth.

I think the mood of the photo is created by the lighting, you can't really see Jim's expression. He could just be thinking or taking a break.
BTW, the Kermit version will be used in the upcoming Muppet stamps.

It was the hard rubber Bert puppet from the 70's. I have one of those m'own se'f.
